It would be great if SE could actually implement a REAL fix for the login queue issue rather than a shitty band-aid fix like this. Since this just ends up greatly inconveniencing many innocent people. Though honestly they really should have just closed our server to transfers long ago. Since the World Transfer Service page had said for a long time that "Characters cannot be transferred to a World which has already reached the limit for character creation.". Yet despite that SE more than happily accepted money under the table from people wanting to transfer in for years. In the end it was SE's greed and refusal to seriously address the overpopulation issue sooner that lead to the state the server is in now.

Wait... there's people complaining about the 10 minute server reset? Why? It's standard across all MMOs... and this is only temporary they said.

Of course only those who abuse the AFK exploits are the ones complaining, so there's no point responding to their complaints anyway.

Again, this is standard for all MMOs. Nearly every MMO in existence has a daily server reset. The amazing thing is that they haven't implemented it before and they are only going to do it temporarily. Most MMOs make it a permanent occurrence.

THE ONLY THING THIS WILL SERVE TO DO, IS CAUSE ENOUGH PLAYERS TO QUIT THE GAME OUTRIGHT BECAUSE THEIR LIMITED PLAYTIME WILL BE INTERRUPTED BY FORCED LOGOUT AND THEIR LOGIN QUEUES WITH DUNGEON QUEUES TIMES COMBINED WILL EFFECTIVELY RENDER THEM UNABLE TO PLAY.

This is a perfect example of the minority ruining it for the majority.

Though, I'm not at all bothered by this 10 minute log off situation.

This is still a band-aid fix, though it did help somewhat. But it does nothing to relieve queue times during NA prime, and woe be they who get 90k'd for no apparent reason only to be met by a queue that won't move. Just dc'd with no warning in a first time run of Temple (no idea if my party did, though as usual DF is suspect), hit with an 800 line... which earlier today wasn't so bad, it moved right along.

This one? Barely budged in 15 minutes.

I was in Rhalgr's and saw at least 20 people afking on the bell, something besides this once-a-day thing needs to be done if the issue is to be actually fixed and not simply haphazardly patched up. :c

Well it's understandable that people who play DPS would be upset about it. I mean they wait pretty long as it is in queues just to get into runs. So it would majorly suck for them to have the 1 hour notification of the server going down right while they're in the middle of their queue. Since they can't really continue waiting out the queue and do their run without risking getting disconnected right in the middle of their run. So they have to cancel their queue, wait for the auto-log off, log back onto the game after the 10 minutes are up, wait through a login queue if there is one, only to then have to wait in a queue for their run once again.

This of course becomes doubly problematic for folks with more limited free time to play. So while it doesn't affect non-DPS players as badly or people with a lot more free time to play it's not hard to see how it could greatly affect certain people.

That's a heck of a lot of idle instances that the servers have to maintain. What people who are reacting badly to this, or are blaming Balmung alone, are forgetting is that the instance servers and transfer servers, basically the servers that handle all instances other than the world zones are shared across the data center. So, the same lobby and instance servers are congested due to all players on all worlds doing this sort of thing and tying up thousands of instances to do exactly nothing.

Booting everyone off very 24 hours will help everyone, not just overpopulated servers.

That's utterly ridiculous.

It's 10 minutes that the game is down during completely off-peak hours. The vast majority of players won't even notice that it's happening if they don't read Lodestone.
