Well that's what anthrophomorphism is.

You're not seeing the same graphics if you're actually seeing 'just a weirdly rendered dog head' on top a 'human body'. Cause it's not a human body.
Since I can't get either of these or a Pom from Neo Steam (or a Bear Man), Lupin works.

I hope they don't. This design is very Un-Final Fantasy. It really doesn't suit the world imo.
Well considering werewolves have been in the series since at least Final Fantasy V (plot wise), they've been more a part of Final Fantasy world than most of the beast races which came after.
As far as the design, the only thing that bugs me is the ears are little too big :p
More than not suiting the world, it doesn't suit the story. Lupin are beastmen. The story makes it very, very clear in a multitude of places that the warrior of light is *not* a beastman.
But we all know that *if* SE will ever decide to implment a new race, that's gonna be Viera anyway. That's where the money is.
You may have skipped quite a lot of dialogue. The story is very explicit in talking about the beastmen as something extraneous to the warrior of light.
I do understand that some are desperate for a race that looks less humanoid, and you can feel free to hold your breath on it if it floats your boat, but do remember to breathe once in a while, because you're gonna be holding for a long, long time.
In the meanwhile, it's very easy to see that a race like this would be ultra-niche, even more niche than Roegadyn, and even if SE was willing to bend the existing story (which probably isn't the case), a game in this stage of maturity needs a potentially popular race to drive sales and subscription, not something a small minority would ever care to play. A new race is a big investment in terms of development resources (the less human-like, the more resources it requires for skeletons, rigs, animations, models and tweaks to existing and future equipment), and needs an equally big return in order to be greenlighted.
Needless to say, dogheads don't fit that bill.
