I am in the same boat as well. I had like a 10 second power outage and I go to log in and boom I am downloading a 22gb file!! This is a bit rediculous!!i hope that SE gets on top of this problem and fixes it quick fast and in a hurry!!! Definitely gonna be a lot of gifts for this muck up!!!
Happened to me last night as well. Spent a good 14 hours re-downloading 22gb. /: I'm probably just not going to log in until this and all the in game problems are solved, especially since I live in a rural area, and power outages happen often and without warning..
I've had several power outages today alone. Hopefully Square addresses this issue soon because it's starting to feel like they've at least ACKNOWLEDGED pretty much every other issue except ours. :/
Same thing happened to me and my cousin. It happened to me yesterday after a power outage. When I tried to login I found out the game was downloading the entire game again: 22.7gb. The worst thing is that my internet speed is just 5mb and I've been downloading it ever since. I can't even turn off my PS4 because the already downloaded files won't be saved and I'd need to re-download them again, believe me, I've tried it. And I can't put my PS4 on rest mode for obvious reasons. I can't play anything else either.
The case with my cousin, he turned off his PS4 after a session of playing time and when he tried to login again, BAM! 22.7gb requiered. I even cancelled my sub because I don't have a clue when I'll be able to play again.
Hasn't happened to me during stormblood ( yet ), but this is definitely not a new issue. I've been affected by the same glitch a few months back and I know others have been getting it long before that. Its by far the worst issue I've personally come across in this game, and I wasn't even hit with a power outage. I got it from simply logging out normally and turning off my PS4. I still don't know what caused it or how to avoid it.
I can handle the other issues, such as DC'ing, congestion, and latency. I even expect that and can be patient with it. What I can't handle is having to re-download the entire game for 14-24 hours straight each time the launcher decides to have a hiccup.
Just seeing this issue escalating with the stormblood release is really making me paranoid to turn on my PS4 and log in tbh.
Power outage and now my PS4 downloading the entire game like others. Just adding myself to the growing list of users with this problem. Be nice if Dev team would at least say they are working on this. I hope the video game press covers this stuff as well because the criticism will be well deserved for this rough Early Launch.
Just had to reinstall due to an error on Thursday, and now I have to do it all over again? Data doesn't grow on trees!
Someone on the JP forums posted this issue too....so maybe they'll at least respond and give us peace of mind.
just happened to me right now due to sudden power outage. I take a look in ps4 storage, nothing changes. yet have to download the whole patches again (twice now)?

Don't hold your back, been happening to me since the first day of early access, still haven't seen one single response or solution from SE, which is very dissastifying.
