Possible level/story jumps....really?

Really hope this was just a simple musing and will never be implemented in game. It's a terrible idea, and I hope enough people are voicing that so it gets heard.

On the topic of gating things behind expansions, I'm honestly not opposed to how Heavensward did it. If you throw open access to new expansion content to new players, then old content is going to be left in the dust, and people who didn't purchase the expansion are going to be underwhelmed and leave.

A lot of people are citing XI as "the right way to do it", but seriously, the same complaints existed back then. When CoP launched, one of the big arguments was that you had to be mid-level to enjoy the new content. ToAU really didn't offer you anything if you were sub-50s either. And considering what leveling was like in XI, it's probably easier to get to Lv. 50 in XIV than it was to get to Lv. 30 in XI (especially if you were a DPS).

Funny, I have encountered tons of people in lvl 60 dungeons that have apparently played through all of 1-60 and still had ZERO clue or concern on how to play their class or even wear the proper gear for their class. 1-60 does not teach a player in any way how to actually play and if someone ACTUALLY does care enough to learn their class then it doesn't matter if they start at level 1 or level 60, if they actually care about not sucking they will learn and figure out the basics of their skills. You can force someone to level from 1 to 60 but if they don't care enough to actually look at their abilities or put forth even a smidge of effort then it won't matter.

So people would be able to pop a potion jump to the current time frame of the game and grind the same dungeons/raids over and over and complain that there nothing to do month after getting the game?

Totally against this.
People don't learn their class, the story becomes optional, while story is, has, and will always be 1 of the main appeals in ANY FF game...
Edit: oh and trust me on this one: new players WILL complain about the lack of content even when old players tell them to go brush up on old story quests.

This is pretty false actually. Unless the person gets completely carried through everything, they will have to at least somewhat decently learn their job. Even then, while leveling, if they want to improve, they have plenty of time given to gradually improve.
If they level jump, they are given tons of skills at once, overwhelming them and do you really want someone learning how Aetherflow works in the middle of your expert roulette?

Considering the way many of the dungeons currently are gated behind story quests, they'd have some major overhauling to do if they want players to skip all of that. Completely against this pay to win, and assuredly it is pay to win, nonsense.

Tell you what Square, if you put this in, fine. Just give me a box to tick in my duty finder and party finder that excludes any player who has purchased a boost. They can wallow in that misery, I'm not carrying players who lack the desire to actually play the game. It's ridiculous that they would even consider this, taking into account the way the progression of their game is structured. Paying to jump to the Tomestone grind while negating three years worth of content? Yeah, I'm sure all of those players will stick around for the long haul. What a great way to alienate your core player base and bring in a bunch of flavor of the month subs. Maybe charge them double and you can recoup the losses from the ones you alienate.

begin to level 30 means litterally ignore the whole class part. no i'm against the jump of level or even the skip of the story. they are part of the experience of FF14, i can understand that this part will be quite long for new player, but when they will reach our same point they will have the same feeling than us about what we did experience. if they was able to pass story, some part of the world will feel weird, it will be toxic to the immersion and the story telling.

however i'm for the reduce of the difficulty of the content in the quest level 1-50 for make it faster and easier to do it

A lot of people have quit because of the slog between 2.5 and Heavensward before actually getting to play Heavensward. Some people might say that's entitled, but honestly, it's a game and if it isn't fun then they have a right to quit.

So I think a level jump is fine. If people want to use it, they'll use it. If not, they can do it the old way. Not everyone plays for the story.

Then have some sort of story skip if someone really doesnt care about it is fine. But NO level skip.
If they dont care about the story, they do not need a level skip, they should still have to level up themselves.

only thing I feel that needs to be done is to NOT have ANY jobs gated through story so if new players or any players buy 3.0 or 4.0 they can be the job they want to be as soon as they have the appropriate level requirement. I also feel 2.1-2.5 and 3.1-3.5 should be skippable. I have a summary of what happened in those events. but doing MSQ should be required. People will just power through content even though it may have short term gains, it will have long term loses such as difficulty of content, rewards, player quality and retention.
