Parry: How would you improve it?

It's not useless either, it's just not worth stacking; and as I've already mentioned, there's hardly a way to spice it up with more damage that isn't outclassed by just having damage stats instead of a parry proc to act as a middle man to more damage.

im pretty sure if they add every time you parry you get a 2-3 seconds buff how eliminate our tank mode damage penalty, and the % of chance scale with the boss like acc, lets see have a 50% max chance to parry and whe need X parry in top boss too keep this chance, make us stack more and more.

is a bed idea XD.

No matter, how fancy parry would be, i quess end-game raiding will always have more demand for DPS-like statistics than normal mitigation. Adding "counter" of any sort to parry will not make it reliable either, true, but will make people consider, if stacking parry is worthier than melding DET or CRIT.

I don't think it will; and honestly it shouldn't. Adding damage incentive to parry would make the stat better, but not better than a direct damage boost from damage stats. So the consideration for melds will still put crit/det/sks ahead of it; and a change to parry will make it less frustrating to end up with like 800 parry rating.

Oh no, i didn't mean for parry to have more AP per point than CRIT or DET. i wanted it to be on a comparable level at least. Having 20% less AP per point, but additional 20% mitigation from parry would be a good deal.

I think I may have posted on this before. But Parry will only be appealing if the game go through some major rework to make tanks WANT defensive stats. For example, make healing harder.

Would honestly just like the stat removed... its beyond saving, remove it and add a more interesting stat. Bonus defence (See WoW's Bonus Armor stat~) or something bizarre, like some people mentioned, if they really want to keep hold of parry then put it on weapons, like how Shields work, different weapons will have different Parry rate and Parry strength. Just my 2 cents on parry.

This pretty much.

The primary purpose of mitigation is to prolong the fight. The same goes for healing. So typically, the dynamic works by making the encounter a race against the healers mana ressources, with mitigation serving as a way to conserve mana by simply taking less damage and thus, reducing the strain on the ressources. This ultimately gives every fight an innate DPS check, because even with good mitigation, ressources at some point run dry and the boss needs to die.

In this game however, mana management is trivial and consequently, DPS checks cannot rely on this innate mechanic and instead are simply hard enrages/wipes. This skews the favor towards damage, because mitigating more damage is pointless - it does not give you more time to beat the boss, which is its purpose, so it's without a purpose.

Bonus Armor would make some longer discussion, if it's really neseccery.

Even 600 BA (around double the Protect gives for current ilvl 230 set) woudnt change dmg recieved strongly enough to exchange them for say, 50-60 additional dmg coming from melding full crit + det.
That's my opinion about tanking. If you can survive it, its good time to focus on dmg dealt.
No need to have excessive defense. But i am crazy tanker- 15% HP? GRIT OFF, LD on, Convalescence on! Let the party begin!

Right.. of course there is no need for it, we can survive with just our pure amount of HP. Was just trying to make an example, parry is such a bad stat, even if they changed it to more mitigation, I wouldn't stack it, criting my Fell Cleaves in Berserk with blood bath up will still yield more mitigation then a chance at parrying, ontop of that WAR has a 100% parry CD, making the parry stat even more worthless on a such a job. PLD has a shield and has no place for parrying attacks.. true it has a chance, but just like WAR, PLD has a high block rate CD and a 100% block chance CD, again making parry worthless. DRK is the only one who benefits from this stat, even with a change but still worthless while OTing, it will still be bad on the likes of WAR and PLD.

I've read your opinions on parry and how to change it, and can respect them. Just like your's, this is my opinion and I just think they need to rid of the stat and think of another stat a bit more creative, I personally like the idea of Bonus Defence but also increases your dmg output, of course this can't flat out invalidate the other stats such as Det.. but lets be honest, Det and Crit need to be adjusted AGAIN.. but that topic is for another day.
