What does Heavensward actually bring to the table as an expansion?

What they did however is that PvPers in FFXIV 2.0 have been forever complaining about 3 faction PvP because it makes it unplayable with queue times for the majority they decided to ignore it and keep it on heavensward, so in a way, yeah, heavensward dragged on and extended the same PvP problem to a expansion and wasn't adressed in any matter.

Considering how bare bones ARR was at launch versus in 2.55, I'm actually really excited for the 3.X patch cycle.

It was HM primals, Amdapor Keep, Wanderer's Palace... was BCoB in 2.0? I honestly can't remember.

I honestly don't feel that HW brings anything real to the table in turns of being a true expansion pack. It really feels more like a medium sized patch then anything, a lot of things in ARR needed to be addressed and seemingly got shafted for rehashed content. Adding 10 levels and a few classes that have been scrutinized for being underdeveloped as well as old ARR classes being shuffled up badly it seems they caused more harm then gain.

If we look at housing, implemented in 2.X it was a good idea, but very limited, they added more wards but at the same time that just blanketed the issue going forward. Now in HW we have airships, but not everyone can use them because they're locked behind housing, which is taken up by vastly huge amounts of dead players. So HW in this regard, did nothing.

As for companies they got nothing but airships, but as I stated, not everyone can utilize all the functions, making companies pointless unless you have been in one before all housing plots were purchased.

Classes are screwed up, players get scrutinized for being AST, MCH and I've even seen PAL get hate because they are weaker as a whole or in certain aspects of each of their respected development, even BRD players are still up in arms about the tweaks to class and it's identity.

Constant gating of raid/vendor gear has also stretched the game horribly thin, following the ideas of 2.X is ok when there is a plentiful amount of content, but 3.0 offers a fraction of it. Causing heavy burn out and general disregard.

Crafting and gathering is still meaningless aside from housing uses and again, not everyone can use that aspect. Even crafter based weapons are still treated as subpar as dungeon drops.

I don't really count flying as anything new, since you can't even do that if you don't run around and hit the access points around the largely barren land masses we have.

tl;dr Nothing really got added, a lot of the game is still a mess and HW only added to the mess.

If being able to do all that is considered rushing content, I have to wonder what people do when they log in.

Adding Alex normal wasn't the big mistake. The big mistake was them adding eso to soon. What they should have done was to add eso when they added another way to upgrade it for those who either can't do Alex savage for time problems or those who have horrible luck in getting pf parties. That's what I think at least. Because of this said reason is why I'm on hiatus and playing Destiny. To me Destiny is way more fun then this game atm. So hope SE gets its act in gear.

Maybe more content will be divided up during its expansion life time and not ALL at release? xD
What did Warlords of Draenor bring to the table on its launch? Not much at all. Blizzard has also 1 year content gaps between their expansions, while XIV had 2-3 months.

At least with XIVs dev team i know they are passionate about the game and probably wants to give up what we want but there is just so much they can manage to work and produce. Heck they have said theyve worked 16 hours workdays.

Just be patient and more will come. When I feel a bit bored with XIV, i fire up my PS4 and play MGSV, Far Cry 4, FF10, Onechanbara. :)

2.1 added CT. 3.1 adds void ark. Still no difference and hasn't been for 2 years.

There is no prestige, there might have been within the first month of 2.0 or so, but after that, practically everyone had one. Everyone and their mother got a relic. It's nothing special. It has about the same amount of prestige as going out and buying an i115 white weapon from a npc.

You have to remember that the expansion itself isn't over.
Yeah the mechanical things such as flying mounts, new job abilities and stuff are pretty set in their ways. But content, stuff to do, things to see, faces to punch, that's not over with yet.

The expansion brought delicious Au Ra to the table. 'nuff said.

I agree with your entire post. Especially this part! I don't like how people think unsubbing is an acceptable answer to lack of variety content. Or "taking a break", I should not have to take a break from my MMO, I don't play it 24-7 by any means..but the whole point is to always have something to do and keep subscribers busy...
