man you can say that about everything. people are going to abuse other players with or without parsers, so lets include them eh?

In my nine years of playing WoW at both ends of the casual/hardcore spectrum, I've never, ever seen the ridiculous amount of meter-based harassment and ridicule that so many people seem to be claiming was the norm. Were there occasionally assholes who abused people over it? Sure, but nowhere near the extreme amount you all love to endlessly regurgitate.
Not having meters readily available (and actually banning people for using them...) in a game that loves to use DPS checks as the epitome of boss mechanics is flat out stupid. It's extremely poor design and encourages ignorance and bad play.
I think I've maybe just been lucky so far, as I said the groups I've come across so far have been nice, patient groups.
They are the opposite side of the coin, sadly, and are as bad as people who abuse players in the first place in my opinion. If you're going to do group content at least do your best as your performance affects 3, 7 etc other people.
I would not dream of implying that your experiences are any less truthful than mine, I think both points are equally valid as they are personal experience.
I do see your point, as I have said parsers, when used responsibly, to improve are a wonderful tool.
It's not a matter of willing to so much as do they care to. If they didn't care to begin with, no amount of math, text, or other evidence/criticism will make them. No matter how constructive or anger inspired it may be. Lifefact: You will never make people do that which they do not wish to do.
