Unable to ride chocobos in town makes me facepalm.

And that screenshot is rather tame compared to what one would typically see in a street in WoW. There are points where you cannot see an inch of the damn ground because of all the stupid mounts. I do not want to see your damn chocobo in town.

Tame compared what you would typically see in WoW? You got a picture from a city of the last expansion that is shared by both the Alliance and the Horde in a very very small town. Of course it is going to look like that and you say that is tame compared to the norm. Wrong. Most towns even with 1000 mounts at a time in it don't even look like that picture. Then again it is a decent depiction of what you might see in FFXIV in a town like Uldah. Problem with what you are comparing it too is it would not look even remotely as bad as it does on WoW. Chocobos are generally tall and since they are bipedal they don't take up near as much space. Plus they look majestic as hell and would be awesome if you could have it in towns. Especially if they only let you have it on the main drag and not down any of the smaller roads or in any shops.

The point I am arguing is I would like to see it in the game assuming we had bigger more open towns. Since this is not the case I really doubt this is going to happen unless when they remake all the zones they do the towns too and open them up and expand them outwards to add to the grandeur. Wishful thinking is all it boils down too.

You act like there are end all be all ways to thinking about things that depend almost primarily on opinion.

This isn't a logic puzzle. This is something that depends on personal reflection and emotional response. "Backwards way of thinking" is something I would expect to hear from people that refuse to look at things from different perspectives. People who are stone set on their own views that they would have the arrogance to label the opposition's very thoughts as "backwards" from reality.

It's basically saying "I'm right, you're wrong, and I am not open to discuss it." usually surrounding speculation and conjecture rather than the core points of cold hard facts.

So yes, I have every reason and right to hate such a close minded phrase.

Yup, you are completely entitled to tell people to leave the game because they don't want chocobos everywhere in cities.

I do hope SE doesn't take such horrible ideas seriously.

"Backwards way of thinking" is a stupid phrase.

But since the cities can accommodate the chocobos, and many people wouldn't be riding them since you can't ride chocobos and bot at the same time, and also considering that they can limit chocobo-use within buildings, and also considering that it would otherwise impinge on people's sense of freedom and control over their characters, I just fail to see how letting chocobos into town is a bad idea.

I would completely welcome these chocobo-friendly environment.

If they start implementing ridiculous tiger/dragon mounts, however, then I would suggest those mounts be left outside, thank you very much.

I always find it interesting that every MMO community tends to think community is better than other communities. And this is not a knock at you, just an observation. I have been around here awhile, our community is pretty much the same as any other MMO community, maybe we have smaller numbers, but am willing to bet our % of jerks vs population would work out to be the same as most other games.

But anyways... Mixed feelings about no mounts in town, but I know for sure there would be morons griefing and parking themselves wherever it could annoy people, standing on top of repair NPC etc.

In fact a few people on Besaid already come to mind that would do just this.
