How to deal with this kind of friend?

I think I'll report him. I'll snitch.
I even snitched my friend who's been eating energy bars secretly from my office's fridge.
And the one who brought home some foods from my office's pantry secretly.
Also people who took office's air fresheners to their home too.

I snitched them all.
And I didn't tell them it was me.

Some of us knows how hard this situation is, and all we can do is give some suggestions, that's all. But ultimately, it's the OP's decision on how to handle this. Personally, I think it's wrong to violate the rules of the game or any rules for that matter. I know it's a small matter of "it's just a game" and it could ruin friendships and whatnot. So, it's a delicate matter.

Reporting him for violating a terms and conditions is the right way of doing things, BUT it is not the only way. The OP can advise his friend or tell him how RMT is a violation against rules and if SE finds out, he's going to be suspended.

The picture just bugs me that's all. Reporting a violation of terms and conditions should not be regarded as being "untrustworthy", even if it's a friend who's doing it. In fact, it should be you who should point out your friend's mistakes instead of some strangers.

Maybe invite him for a game of golf in real life to talk it through. Then beat him to death with your putter while his back is turned. Its what Jesus would do.

I don't get all the "report him he destroys the ingame economy!!!" hate. Srsly you get the best Stuff out of Raids and over Tomes and not from the Marketplace. The Marketplace is something for that Wall Street Students who want to milk normal players. I would never buy any Stuff from the Marketplace cuz they overprice it Standard. Even if there would be no RMT they would overprice it? Why? Cuz they can.

If MY Friend thinks he needs that 2 Mill Gil, well then thats his Choice. If he get's caught, thats the Echo for his Actions. If not hes lucky.

I personally do not know what to think about this topic. I was in a FC a friend of mine invited me too. I was quite happy in it interacting with the people, and helping them out with ex primals, and coil when I could. Later I found out they were using teleport hacks to glitch fights, bought gil...why waste irl money on artificial money...2mil gil is nothing, and also started to bot, again bot mining shards/crystals is nothing, 1000 fire shards for 50k...gratz... >_> I tried talking to my friend about it, and the FC leads but they basically said, "leave them alone." It interrupts "thier way of having fun," we have a no drama policy, so stop "talking about it"...which left me uneasy since I couldn't talk about it to maybe find a understanding why they are doing it, or to find some sort of medium. And no they didn't do this when I joined, but started to months after I joined. I left a week later after that talk with fc leads, and with my friend, since I personally don't want to be involved with those type of activities. So I lefted.

I was sad and a little upset about the whole thing. I don't really talk to anyone from that FC anymore...since I can't "talk about it." The only one I talk too, and do stuff with still is my friend from that FC. And no my friend has not done any of these activities, but they are neutral when others do. I have not reported any of them to gm's. They can get caught by themselves.

If you know players who cheat (buy gil, bot) and do nothing about it, you are just as bad. We are all playing a game, those things count as cheating, because its not directly affecting some of you, you dont think its an issue, or its their choice. But look at it on a smaller scale, lets say we are playing monopoly and your friend snags a 500 from the bank every time someone isnt looking. Do you say, oh well its his choice, if he gets caught he will have to deal with it. Or do you say something and fix it, or just quit. Having the best gear come from raids is not a defense for buying gil, and if you honestly believe this I think you are capable of buying it yourself.

I have kicked a rl friend from my in game group of friends for admitting to me he bought gil. He asked if I wanted the gil when he was quitting also and I just let him delete it with his character. He is still my friend even though we disagreed on playing mmos together.

This kind of thing bothers me a lot as well. FC leaders who let this happen are terrible. There is a very large FC on sargatanas with some obvious bots and cheats. After reporting one of them several times nothing has happened to him. So after speaking to the lead of the FC he says "are you the bot police or something?" proceeds to defend them. So FYI for some of you in FCs with known botters. We remember the tag, if you dont want to be associated with cheaters you might think about doing something.

I know every person in that FC isnt a botter, but I will assume every person I see with that tag is capable of botting because the FC in general supports it.

think your best bet is seriously to mind your own business, involving yourself is needless and will strain your friendship

some things aren't meant to be worried about, this is one of them. this game's economy is juuuuuust fine. some people just don't know how to gil.

I'd report friends and family for this. The gil spam is just too annoying to ignore those who make it happen.

I wouldn't even care if people bought gil if it didn't give the sellers a reason to spam chat, tells, and friend requests. That's by far the biggest reason that I'll never buy it.
