I don't think its about that really, (well maybe to some >.>) but from what I am getting from OP and most people in this thread, they want challenging boss fights, new encounters for relic, etc. Not reused content.

You're right so I'll be specific. That one fight being more or less a challenge is only one small part of the whole of the relic weapon. A weapon that has from the Zenith upgrade and beyond been intended to be the weapon people can obtain if they don't want to do coil. Specifically the less skill dependent option. While the original step of the relic had Titan every other step since then has shown a clear and specific upgrade path that does not include such battles. There is a reason those fights are no longer included as part of the process. Which is why I said expecting the weapon to have tough fights is literally missing the point of this weapon upgrade path. You're also missing the point if you think Titan HM being tough changes anything about the design and purpose of these weapons in the bigger picture.

There's no gratification period. The relic quest, as it currently stands is still weaker than a 'farmed' weapon. So the only reason to own one is for the glamor.

Tiggy, that is the whole point of this thread. :) The OP and people here want to change that. We rather have meaningful fights and have relics hold merit, instead of just being some weapon we got through RNG luck and spending a lot (or a little) of time. They want it back how it was in 2.0.

Relic, in Final Fantasy has always been the most respected weapon, now it is reduced to this.

So what you just said is exactly what the OP hopes to change ^_^;

Then I'd have to so I disagree entirely with the proposed change. Sure the upgrade paths could include more options. Alexandrite was a good example of a phase where options certainly helped. I agree with square that this should be the lower skilled alternative path to a decent weapon. It should require little skill and simply time/money. This is a niche that should absolutely be filled and to make it more challenging would simply leave that niche unfulfilled. What you really want is a third option entirely. Something like this weapon that perhaps is faster to get but requires far more skilled battles although honestly if you want a challenge and a quick path to a weapon then that is literally what the coil is for. Removing this weapon from the niche it serves would be a bad idea. You're more concerned about actually changing it than wondering if you even should. At what cost would you change this? How many more people must be alienated from decent weapons?

The Relics are pretty much just glam at this point and really are not bis anyhow.
The whole books portion was also very tedious and repetitive, really not sure why i got 3 animus weapons ......
The time i put into finally obtaining Novus, after this latest addition of the chain i agree op i am pretty much done with Relic

That axe looks cool, but yeah also sometimes people just..have a lot of free time. I got about 2 / 3 hours maybe every other night between work, doing things. Then I know people who take days off or can spend a whole weekend just sitting on the game or computer. I unfortunately don't have a lifestyle that lets me do that. I think it's particularly insulting that they make you grind sooo much for this stuff, then in one step force you to grind exponentially more (for spiritbonding) or throw HUGE gobs of gil at it, and if you cheap out the first time you need to go back and grind that step again in order to make the "perfect" relic (for example, if you're a dps, you're basically screwing yourself if you don't go full DET/CRIT on the relic). It's not like it's even a fun grind. It's just mind-numbing.

#1 mistake SE made as far as I'm concerned is the idea of welfare gear to begin with. You shouldn't be getting endgame gear by grinding dungeons, and you certainly shouldn't give such massive incentives to just mindlessly grinding dungeons. People are going to get bored of that, and want to quit your game, because they feel like you just want them to do nothing but mindless busy work. If you can't even make it fun, why bother?

I agree with this.
I got all the random drops way before I had the soldiery to finish 2 of the quests.
And I was doing pretty much all roulettes (even the story one!! lol ) as soon as patch 2.45 came for the soldiery bonus.



I ended up helping about 10 rookies (one at a time) to get their Garuda EX, t1-t4 and even some t5 kills for that 100 soldiery bonus per run.
I got over 2000 soldiery in a few hours this way and got done with the relic.
(No rookie wanted to run/be carried on Titan EX, i guess it still scares the hell out of ppl lol)

Loved the 125 relic quest I thought it was freaking fantastic and overall very stimulating to every corner of the economy. Let the flaming begin :)

I really wish the most powerful weapon in any respective patch could only be obtained by doing the relic quest in its entirety up to that point as well as beating the final raid content in that patch. Would be so epic. So like in patch 2.2/2.3 if you beat t9, in addition to the weapon and gear chests, there could be a third chest with an item drop once per clear that anyone could roll on maybe like a 'high allagan orb' (similar concept to a sand of time but only from t9) and it would upgrade your relic to 115 which was the same level as the high allagan weapons (or maybe 120? up for discussion). But that way if you bothered to do the relic quest along side raiding you wouldn't have to rely so much on RNG to get your t9 weapon since you could simply use the token item to upgrade your relic. So when you get three monk weapons in a row and your static doesn't even have a monk everyone isn't so livid they want to throw their computer through a wall. Furthermore in 8 weeks worth of clears everyone will have a token and then they would have more incentive to do the relic quest (which would boost the other portions of the game as seen in the pattern of the relic quests trying to revive old content presumably to help DPS Q times for new players).
