It's curious that they changed that but also left the wording in the bottom disclaimer. Did the actual functionality of the game change, or are they just hoping that by stating it that way people will get the message?

Either way, it's still better to state it that way, even if it isn't as clear as it really should be. (I too prefer not allowing mix-and-match, or putting a clear in-game warning before proceeding.)

What I've heard so far from people who reported the problem is that they were pointed to the disclaimer and basically told sorry. But I don't know the results of further follow-up after that. At least the issue was noticeable enough (between the forums and Customer Service) that they did make some adjustments to the explanations.

Yeah, the thread might die, but I don't think I'll be forgetting it. Any time I go to purchase something from SE from now on, there will be that question at the back of my head, 'Are there conditions where I might get nothing in exchange for my money on this?' Conditions that, imo, should not exist. >.>

No, it always said that. However, there is nothing in game to enforce that, and the bottom sentence always contradicted it, so that's far from clear.

when i looked at the EB site on Tuesday morning, I did not see anything about both partners are required to have the same wristlet, and I read over the whole site rather thoroughly, since I loved the weddings in FFXI, and I knew there were going to be problems with this one

Then you must have missed it. Nyalia even quoted it earlier in this thread, on the 10th. The bottom sentence, however, contradicts it saying that you can do the quest with different wristlets. It's poorly worded.

The note regarding the promise wristlet of lower value determining your plan.

These are the contradicting explanations you're talking about. However, I'd imagine it's not within the English team's power to go beyond what the JP has stated without causing problems (hence they're editing the website to match the JP). Unless the JP changes, I think it's safe to assume their hands are tied. With that said, I haven't seen any JP outcry over these contradicting statements, so chances of the text being changed further are slim to none.
