Unfortunately people feel the need to bring all the crap of real life into a game. Just drop the marriage system. Be LGBT, be poly, we don't have to know. We want to know if you can dodge landslide. No wonder there are misanthropists..

SE hasn't actually brought in "marriage"...it's "life bonding", which was a clever answer to the whole "equal rights" thing. Unfortunately we now have the OP raising another "alternative" albeit rare and mostly illegal and wanting "equal rights". Where did the rp go in mmorpg?

The only lore support for polygamy in XIV is the clanned miqo'te, the U clan in Forgotten Springs being the only obvious example. But, really, they aren't married so much as 'mated' like a pride of lions (though that makes one wonder just how awkward the line of succession is given that the nuhn's sons are in line to inherit the clan...). Thus it only makes sense for miqo'te. Applying this to the real world, only certain countries have polygamy. Japan is not such a country and only Mormons legally follow the practice in the US. No reason to have it in XIV.

On topic; this thread makes me feel like the OP is a little bitter about SSM. It's like they guy in Florida that wanted to be able to marry his computer if gays could get married.

I'm all for equality but where was this thread when the marriage system was first announced? People wanted SSM in FFXI and they asked for it as soon as it was announced for FFXIV.

Do you actually care about this topic or are you just salty about SSM?
