Its funny how people always make this a one way issue.

But what most of you tend to forget is that because some... Actually alot, of poor skilled players taking advices as insults and telling you to GTFO, players like me who were initially nice and helpful turned into occasional jerks and are some time rude to someone who didnt do anything except being bad at this given time.
Simply because we couldnt hold it anymore after being called names for trying to be helpful on the 2349876 instances we ran before this one.

Never said rude bads were the norm or even implied it. You just wanted to say I was wrong because I told you, you were using the word wrong lol. Perfect example of why I don't even bother to help people. Especially since no where did I state rude bads are the norm or even sort of imply it.

I know elitists go off and all the stuff and it's very rare that anyone gets stuck with a true elitist and not a jerk. True elitist usually tend to have a static that they only run with. But things happen, they have to pug for one reason or another. Something goes wrong, they have a heart attack and if you ignore them, you can continue because they DO KNOW what they are doing. Bads on the other hand, have no clue what they are doing and don't wanna know.

I've been called elitist so many times for helping or being told "It's just a game" and I don't ever go off on people or say anything rude. So I just sit there and watch them burn now because I don't feel like the whole "elitist hardcore" battle. I'm a tank, if it bad enough I can always re que instantly.

It is relevant since many people who play the vast majority of the time with one specific person (esp tank/heal combo) tend to...not know how to play with anyone else. Its, sadly, a more common issue than it should be.

All you said was she was "harassed" for being "inexperienced"...are you sure that's what it was? That it wasn't she did something like wipe the raid with a Valefor (which is more a sign of trolling or stupidity than anything, as its the same thing as the boss of AK...) or kept bringing skeletons to occupied platforms (which, if that happens people will tell you to stop, and if you keep doing it then you'll get told off) or said something to get people angry at her? Also...did she ask for advice, or just charge in and then screw up? If the latter...people will tend to get mad since the new person didn't ask for help and just did whatever they wanted.

I don't see relatively new players as bad players. They haven't learned yet, and eventually they will. It takes time to find your way to play and some have to experiment with other classes to find the right one for them to play. An occasional mistake doesn't make them bad, as I've seen people claiming to be pro, have better gear than me, and be the single cause to every wipe I'd experience in the dungeon run. Had this happen with Amdapor Keep, when the WHT kept dropping the purple pulsing balls of death right in the fighting area of the boss. He was in i70 gear. He took his time, but learned how to play the boss, after around 9 wipes. We beat the dungeon after 2 tanks left.

I certainly don't think he was bad because of his performance since he had better gear than I did.

What I consider Bad Players are the people who get slighted by the appearance of a new player, start harassing the player and or team they are on for a few mistakes. A CT run I had one guy from another team just bashing everyone else. He'd throw insults around at other teams for a accident or if we wiped because his team rushed in without us. At one point, one of our tanks trolled him and his team, we were forced to kick him after that cause he was just becoming a liability. The same guy insulting others just kept with increasing negative remarks towards the dungeon run when he and his team started to fall behind. He alone made the entire CT experience a horrible run. We didn't even get through Behemoth's part because he and his friends kept bailing and refused to help the other teams. He is what I'd call a bad player. Someone who maliciously causes trouble for others.

New Players can learn and get better, but you can't fix or change people who live to cause trouble for others.

Not really, if you play enough mmos you know there are simply these type of players that are moochers/leechers. You have to separate them from the players that genuinely needs help. It may be a point we'll just have to agree to disagree on. I expect it in myself that in order for ME to be the best "team player" I can, it means that I will offer assistance, especially in instances where there is a mutual benefit for accomplishing a shared goal. It does me no disservice to offer helpful hints if I have them.

We play a game where it requires us to have party members help us progress in our own journey. If I didn't want to "help" anyone else, or if I felt "put out" to occasionally assist others improve as the need presents itself, then I'd be better off in a single player game atmosphere.

The whole point of an MMO is that you are able to actually make a difference to more than only yourself, and interact with other players who are real people. In MMO's the world is bigger than just you, and even though your gameplay may be focused primarily on your own progression, you have the unique ability of investing in your own future party experience by simply lending an occasional helpful hand here and there to someone else. To me it is an absolute no-brainer.... a win-win situation to help others grow as a player. They may in turn help someone else, who may eventually end up in my party down the road. We're only as strong as the weakest link.. so why not?!? If they accept the help great! If not.. so be it, least I tried to be a helpful party and game community member.

Not saying you in particular, but it is quite frustrating overall to listen to people who are more than willing to point out negatives in others, and cackle in the corner, but never even have it occur to them to offer suggestions to help that player improve. Never occurs to them that maybe a little simple communication would do the trick and improve the current party 10 fold. They feel content to leave all as is, and get some warped feeling of grandeur out of being able to feel that they are "better" than someone else.

Those who don't think through things enough to realize that everyone was new once. Not everyone comes into this game with innate knowledge of the best websites to find information at, or plain be experienced in a specific instance.

To have the attitude that it is "beneath them" to be helpful to others......... In a game where the point is to work with others.... to me just seems like an oxy moron.

That's incorrect. Duty roulette is to help lowbies not wait hours for a party. The reward is for being put into dungeons that you normally might not participate in (example: how many times did you actually do Satasha after you hit level 16?). It isn't for experienced players to teach them how to play.

For what you said on a teaching guild / fc, that was what the original point of guildhests were; for the game itself to teach you how to obey/follow mechanics. But seeing as how they're all face roll, they didn't/don't actually teach squat. Kill adds as they spawn? Naw, just burn the boss. That's pretty much how most of the guildhests go. Tons of bubbles spawning around the boss that you're supposed to ignore the acid ones? Naw, let's just ignore everything and burn the boss. Good idea, badly implemented.

As far as it being up to the players to form an open world FC to instruct the new players, some already do. But most see those as progression FC's and quickly jump to a new one when they get what they want from it. Another reason people don't like helping newer players. This is a subject that isn't black and white. Anything that involves the personalities and personal skill sets of individual players has too many intangibles. Is the person being a jerk when they ask for help? Are they rejecting any advice you're giving? Do they ignore pleas to follow number marks? Do they give attitude when you say you're too busy to help them at a given time? Or it can be the opposite and they can be super polite.

Personally, if a new person asks for help (I can't count how many titan HM and relic carries I've done with/for strangers), I'm all for it. I just hate when it's expected of me simply because I'm a better geared / more knowledgeable player.
