Some people just have a great lack of respect for other people and their choices. People can and should be able to wear what they like, no questions asked. Of course staying within rank range is a good idea, but no one should be forced to follow anyone else's personal rules.
And the most uncomfortable... bras. XD
I think it is selfish to ask someone to play a game in a way that YOU like and they don't. I think sometimes people forget that it is a game and meant to be enjoyed. Respect others and they'll respect you. Tell others how to play and they're probably not gonna like you too much. :3
lol, alright you have a point. X3
Bras are efficient. They get the job done optimally. Wait... hands would do a better job than a bra.
This is a benign occurence, really it is. It's not an insistance to be gimp or an excuse or anything like in XI. Wear what looks good, because the stats don't matter is what they're pretty much joking.
I'm happy that at least the population knows stats don't do anything when they don't do anything. In FFXI, people held stats in too high an esteem for what they actually did. It's almost better to slowly crank up the value of stats as opposed to start them off brutal, so the entire game isn't indoctrinated with this whole NNNNNGAHHHHH STATS mentality.
Now the B-type personalities run the game and the STAAAAAAAAATS people don't have as much of a position to dictate what's acceptable.
Setting aside the argument over courtesy there is some truth to the idea that XI endgame was run like a workplace, and not an entertainment. This made people lots of people stop attending. I think people should be satisfied with rules that give greater rewards to those who attend regularly, and not beat up players who do endgame casually.
I know a guy with all jobs at 90 in XI but his gear was poor, and someone posted about it on FFXIAH. Aside from making a guy feel like he'd been /slaped I don't know that that post accomplished other than to make the poster feel good about himself for picking on someone.
I'd argue its all about social status. Ones clothing has always been tied to social status, but so are job, car, house and spouse. At this point we have no chocobo's, no mog houses, no in game weddings, and most of the people who have played from the start have at least one rank 50 job. That pretty much leaves clothes. Hopefully by the PS3 launch we will have a mount system, and maybe even housing.
I've tanked NMs on GLA in a coatee before just for fun and we won just as easily as when I was in full tank gear lol. I agree with the other 9 pages of responses--gear in this game does not mean that much at all, and if someone doesn't want to wear the exact same set as every other CON, THM, LNC, whatever, then why get down on them for it? That's just as bad, IMO, as those people who rushed to spend all their gil in September on haubergeons and stomped around in them at R10 pretending to be elite.
Good Gear is the gear that looks good on you.
