Pretty sure most websites do that, not just non-Japanese ones.

EDIT: Also reasonably certain he meant more than just Americans. And also fairly certain that if you're giving information to only one demographic and blowing every other country off because it's "too hard to translate" that you're going to get misquoted. The way to avoid that is to provide the information yourself.

Look at how we handle the information we get from the community rep's and info on lodestone, we blow it way out of proportion that it is sickening. Like people with the dungeon and auto attack and jumping whining about it being all WoW-clone now and we haven't even played the coming changes, things like that is also what he is talking about.

Now PR under Tanaka was horrid, I remember watching the vanafest 2010 and he was dancing and happy and giddy about the FFXIV info he was releasing and then he released a horrid game....

That's maybe 4 or 5 people and only the ones here. There are other FFXIV sites and many more not doing such things.

lol because they all came here in the hopes of being heard by SE... lol I stopped visiting the other sites once Lodestone opened its own forums. "less rumour mongering" but alas it still happens lol.... >.<!!!!! can't escape it... I come on here now if a) want my blood pressure to increase due to sheer stupidity of some posts or
b) for the sheer laughter over the same kind of posts and people making fun of them >.<!!!!

No, when he complained about rumors he was just QQing about the community exploding on his face because the sorry state the game was.

rumours are bad only when people make them up for either the sheer arguement of wanting one, or the ones that have no real basis about them and just made up from hearsay and no actual material to reference to.

edit: also rumours are bad, when some people take said rumours to be fact and start stating it as so... I see that all the time "but I read somewhere that they were going to do this" and in no official documents or interviews was it ever stated it was just someone stating something they wanted or something and some people take it as truth....

So...

Actually no. He complained because reality was intentionally misrepresented by some sites ("you can play only 8 hours a week!"), starting from a trash site that had an evidently and blatantly hostile standpoint towards SE and the game, with many other sites falling in line behind them like morons, reporting the misrepresentation like it was the bible.
He had every reason to complain about that, and site admins got bent over it because they were called on their misconduct/rumor mongering/guillible behavioir.

Maybe he should have bothered to post the specifics for the fatigue (soon to be gone lol) system. It's as I said, community exploding on his face due to crap and/or poorly implemented ideas.

Community working with limited information complaining about a very unpopular system. Is that really overreacting?

Producer implementing dumb, unpopular ideas into game, instead of reaching out to community with actual information and an open stance whines that fan sites are evil. Yup, QQ.
