Excellent constructive argument. Finally someone using their brain.

Actually the producer letter not only downgrades jumping to a lower priority, but actually points out that the implementation is, as of now, a big IF.
So no, they don't agree it's needed. Reading is a nice skill to have :D
The dev team, I'm afraid, doesn't disagree with the fact that jumping can be an annoyance, as Yoshida clearly stated in one of his posts, while they definitely disagree that jumping equals "awesome", as they downgraded it's priority, and put it's implementation in doubt.
if it was an "awesome" feature for them, they'd implement it asap. Obviously, not so.
They know it's marginal, and the few vocals ones that spam multiple threads on it like jumping could singlehandedly turn this game in an awesome one are completely inconsequential.
I'm not judging, just using common sense. No bubble bursted don't worry! :)
There is no need to repeat those fabled valid arguments against jumping yet you repeated what, 3 times now that there is arguments somewhere instead of telling me what these arguments are and end this debate. Wow...
I'm just following your logic, you seem to think we shouldn't have jump because you and some other people say so.
You talk about selective reading, yet Yoshi-P wrote that it's on low priority for now, which makes sense as the core gameplay mechanics are broken and need fixing asap. And you read what? "Jumping features is abolished" lol....
Make it a 5 sec cooldown and everytime you spam the cool down increases by 2 seconds until you have jumped 10 times then you can't jump anymore for a whole minute. any other valid arguments besides bunny hopping?
Jumping would actually be kind of interesting if they implemented a need for it in dungeon content, or in the world in general. Such as to get to certain areas, or to progress through dungeons you needed to jump over things, or from ledge to ledge or so forth. Makes it a little more interactive.
Let's go for realistic jumping. You'll make it maybe 2-3 feet off the ground if you're good at it. Unarmored. With an empty backpack. In chainmail, forget it.
Jump is not NEEDED but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be added.
Highlighted in green can be overcome by different means.
Pros:
Adds another layer of player freedom.
Can add to strategy (dungeons, etc).
Can easily overcome small obstacles in the field.
Cons:
Takes up development time.
Players spamming jump.
At bare minimum the only downside seems to be development time. Not saying it adds a whole lot either, but it certainly wouldn't hurt much.
