Post Your Healing Horror Stories.

Making this short and sweet.

I was minding my own business when I got a tell from someone saying they were stuck in a queue for Aurum Vale and needed a healer. They were gonna do "a bunch" of runs to level to 50. It was late for me, so I could only promise them one run.

It was my first time there, and subsequently we wiped 2-4 times on every boss and ended up finishing with me dead and with less than 20 minutes. Learning hurts. A lot. Oh, and I'm not sure about the morbol seedling minion's rarity but... when it dropped I won over two other Need rolls.

I think that ugly little thing is going to be my permanent mark of shame. =X

On the upside, I think I'm having a lot more faith in the community than most have here, considering between this and my SV run I was never yelled at or kicked.

AV in general can be rough (most of the optional dungeons are) and Coincounter is a significant wake-up call to pay attention to boss cast bars/movements so don't worry about it too much.

Holy crap these are some terrible stories, with me only been playing for a week I dont have any horror stories of my own yet. But i am rethinking the idea of making a white mage as my main. :eek:

Don't rethink it :) Healing is one of the most rewarding jobs in this game, in my opinion. We just happen to use this thread as an open forum to rant and rave when that one situation that happens once in a blue moon happens and we need to let it out to help calm our minds and souls~

Ah, alrighty so far its been a blast to heal even though ive only done a few duty things. One day ill be leaving my first rant here :) happy gaming and best of luck to my fellow healers.

Don't rethink it. Healers are the duct tape that holds parties together.

Hahaha, is it bad that asked myself I wonder how mad my wife would get if i would try that with my son. :O But to get back on topic I never thought of it that way. :)

I've noticed that the first person blamed is always the healer, regardless. -_- Not that pointing fingers unnecessarily helps the situation, (it just makes things worse - riling tempers + damaging the healer's confidence = makes everything worse) but people sure love doing it.

I've been doing ST lately for the healer gloves for my SCH and overall have been getting good parties.

But, yesterday I got in one run that was just horrible. There was this SMN I had been in a party with before for ST (I knew because he has text macros for almost all of his spells) so I didn't think it would be too bad as long as everyone else in the party was decent.
And oh boy was it bad. Half of the dps in my party could not dodge anything so you already know what that means. The other healer and I got way too many ice orbs and were rarely unfrozen. Another one of the alliances' healers really needed a wake up call.
Luckily, after the first wipe everything seemed to go smoothly the second one.

But then we get to the Glasya Laborys (or whatever the hell his name is) and things seem to be going generally well...until the squires appear. My tank and the tank of one of the other alliances' decided to run around everywhere with the squires in tow, and so we wipe. People assume they are new to the dungeon so explain what to do when the squires pop (except for the "annoying macro-everything" SMN who starts bitching instead.) The tanks do the same thing they did last time and we wipe again. People explain it again, but then everything falls apart before we even do the third try (and we never did do that.) All because of that same SMN. Instead of acknowledging the fact that the tanks screwed up, he starts bitching about my gear, claiming that my overall ilvl 93 set was not good enough for ST. That was the last straw for everyone in my alliance. We could have just kicked him yes, but at that point everyone had had enough anyways since this group was probably not going to complete the raid anytime soon, and so after one person left everyone else in the party but the SMN and tank followed. Luckily since I wasnt the first i didnt have to eat the penalty.Unfortunately, though, it turns out that SMN is in Zodiark and not Phoenix so I cannot blacklist him, but I really dont want to end up in a party with that guy again either.

I get this a lot (with exception of Ultima Hard.... I just always seem to derp hard and nothing else for some reason). First run ever of Stone Vigil Hard - pretty good. Smooth. Second run with well geared tank - I end up doing craptastic.
