Goals for the game: Have some fun, relax, hang out with friends, maybe level another class or two
Goals for the marriage union: Preferably, find an in-game relationship with someone that has similar interests. Failing that, meeting people who want to game together, whether in FFXIV or other MMO's.
Do you care if the player in real life is not the same gender as their character?: Only if you're hoping for a relationship type thing, I'm not into guys that way. If you're just looking for gaming buddies and don't care about the actual Eternal Bond part, then nope, I don't care.
Etc: Been burned a few times by some real characters, some from this thread, some not. But, after taking time off and now taken some time away, I'm considering trying again.

Preferred Race: I'm willing to work with anything Male really - Lala's would be hard to work with for obvious reasons - but I'm open to the idea. Au Ra would be my favorite as I adore the Au Ra race.

Dislikes: People who don't pay attention to what I say and assume I said something else. The next thing would be that I prefer to enjoy the game and not be concerned with perfectionism - to learn by doing. Bashing newbies.
Goals for the game: Omnicrafter/to continue clearing the hardest challenges of the game. Would be nice to have a partner.
