Thanks! I'll put it into effect next time I'm playing. I get the main gist of the class, but since I don't do any damage calculating, I wasn't entirely certain I was taking advantage of the lancer's arsenal.

Damn, I used too xD
The general idea of my particular set-up is to have action abilities (mainly the thrusts/IDC combo) on the face buttons (X,O,Tri, Square) so your left thumb is free to position while attacking. Then I have my off-GCD abilities on the direction buttons, just a quick tap and your back on the thumbstick ready to dodge/position.
On the expanded hotbar I have the AoE moves and an extra Heavy Thrust (on face buttons) to eliminate swapping back and forth, and also defensive buffs (on d-pad).
Hope that helps a bit. I had a few streams from last week on twitch but it looks like they are gone.
Well, here's mine.

Linked1 (Jumps/Healing CDs):

Probably should switch Keen Flurry and Piercing Talon, but don't use either a ton anyway...
Linked2 (AoE):

SSD is also here since I have a tendency to use it during the CT combo, and its easier to "reach" it on this bar between GDCs than switching half-bars entirely. HT is here to buff Ring of Thorns, BFB/Invigorate is for AoEing.
Bar that's linked:

The cool-downs on top of/around the X-bar are there so I can see when the CD is up (don't know why I have the bar on the left anymore; don't see it during a fight at all lol); I don't touch-pad click on any of them (except for that Paeon one, which is used to get the BRD's attention, and its really only used for T8...)

also play bard a lot
How do you get the other abilities surrounding your cross bar to appear? I'm not very techy and I want to do this..
You have to go to character settings->hotbar settings, and select display on the horizontal or vertical hotbar you want to display. Then drag and drop skill into there, click the "don't show empty spots" option in hotbar settings, and you should be good to go. I think they're all set to hidden by default cause of the cross hotbar, but yeah. But here's what my layout looks like:

Thank you so much! Saves me constantly flicking to my l2+r2 bar to see if my potion is back or keen flurry is up..
I linked my power surge to jump on a key that's easy for me to press, so I just do disembowel>press the power surge button+jump to get power surge>chaos thrust>press it again to jump. sometimes it jumps without power surge, but I don't have a lot of finger dexterity, so it's a quality of life thing for me really.
We'll I just got my weathered legs gloves boots to ilvl110, I don't know if I should work on gloam ring next
Any specialized tips for T8 on DRG? Our DRG can't seem to hit 450s even with full i110 (no HA spear though). He saves Dragonfire Dive for the first Dread and only does CT combo + Phleb on the Dreads for maximum milking but he's still not pulling even his training dummy numbers.
Lemme give ya some insight then :
1. Sub 450 is always attributed to LM duty, many towers (more than 2 times) assignment, balistic missile assignment
2. DoTs is for boss not dread, always hit DN with non DoTs
3. If ur DRG got HA, is he/she able to hit the boss without fearing the BRD missed homing?
4. In any event he/she have to move faraway from boss, is he/she saving gap closers aka Spineshatter, reverse Elusive and DD? or he/she's just like me using gap closers for off gcd (using gap closers or not is very mechanics RNG dependant)
5. Is ur DRG using HQ foods or X pot of STR HQ twice (at the beginning of fight and later at the end of the fight?)
450 seems a bit high imho, best parse I saw was a 430ish for DRG...
Just a note for N.4.
My group employs the single tank method, meaning the second in aggro is always a DPS. That DPS will never be targeted by Allagan Field - meaning, he'll have close-to-constant uptime (except during other duties). The moment he uses Elusive to close the gap, he's going to lose this advantage (if he was second in aggro to begin with). So it depends on the situation, imho.
In T8, we have a MNK and DRG. Right now I'm a little more geared than our MNK (mostly weapon, should be fixed soon though), so I tend to be #2. MNK is in charge of Homing Missile, so we want him at 2 so we don't have that confusion going on. So...I Elusive Jump at least once in phase 2 to make sure he's at 2 (other DPS are using Quelling there just in case) When he gets more gear that won't have to happen
But, this is something to keep in mind, especially since MNK do more DPS naturally than we DRG
Aye, that's why I said it depends on the situation. Or rather, on the group. As of last time, he still has to catch up with me (DRG) and the BLM - so in the end, it's better if at least one of the melees can stay on the target as much as it can. I didn't check if the BLM actually used Quelling, but in case he didn't it might make sense to try and Elusive to leave the 2nd aggro spot to him to help him keep both GL and up-time.
Edit: "he", I meant the monk in my static. Pfff. Who needs subjects anyway.
What should I do first? Replace weathered belt with guardian belt? Replace astrum body with guardian body for det boost? Replace astrum hands with guardian hands for more det? Replace astrum legs with guardians legs?
Is it alright that I focus my equipment on CRT rate over Skill Speed and (sometimes) accuracy? What's the minimum would say to have the accuracy stat at?
And last question: do HT and IR stack?
Thanks! :)
Replacing BiS 110 body, 110 gloves, 110 leggins with non BiS 100 gears? U MAD M8?
Remember gearing wise, u need to reach ACC CAP 1st, with full DET best gears available atm, u can reach 402 DET (insane ikr) at the cost of 449 ACC aka u will still miss a lot even doing T1 let alone T2-9
1. t1 t2 450, t4 475, t5 475 -480, t6 t7 t8 495, t9 495 - 515 (on p4)
2. yes ALL damage buffs stack
3. SKS = u can "steal opportunity" of landing an extra of 1-2 hits (3 if lucky) on boss at the cost of burning tp faster and may die ridiculiously when u try to force the 3rd or 4th hit greedily , cap wise though max SKS allows u to reduce gcd by 10% or all ur skills gcd is on 2.25s instead of 2.50s
4. problem with CRIT is we can't reach 25% crit rate hard cap (621 crit rating) with only 20% crit rate (550 crit rating) available on gears atm , add to that our freaking high cooldown full burst rotation and the RNG GOD bless or curse u!
Our WHM manages enmity carefully. If he didn't, our tank would lose aggro during the fight, what with Dreadnaughts/Brainjacks/Mines interrupting his enmity generation in each phase. I myself come very close to stealing aggro in that fight.
In terms of DPS, I really wouldn't know. Thing is, each time I read something in this forum about DPS I always see numbers way (like, WAY) higher than those that our healer's parsers say. Like, you say 450 for our MNK? He averages 350 according to the parser. The rest of us rarely reaches 400+. And yet I even hear MNKs doing 500 or stuff like that. I don't even care anymore at this point.
We can easily skip the last set of towers during the second phase and if we don't mess up we can skip the last ballistic missile that usually comes before Allagan field as well - so we can't be doing that bad, right? We do know however that our MNK can and should be doing better, but I can't really imagine him doing 100 more DPS. We would skip way more of the fight, is it possible?
It depends on a lot of factors. Assuming he's doing the standard rotation/priority for MNK in an acceptable fashion, it depends on how geared he is, how many duties you give him, if there's another Dragon Kick user, if he's getting Selene, if he gets enough Army's Paeon, stuff like that. A decently played MNK with maxed out gear and another MNK giving Dragon Kick can consistently go above 500 if given no duties, but it's quite acceptable to be closer to 400-450, if you've got i110 weapon but less gear and some duties.
Ahh thanks for that.
Finally after 4+ months my final atma pieces have dropped all in one day, figures
So i went with the atma Gae Bolg and currently on book #3, still wondering if i should have just got the Liberator, lol.
Also this week debating if i should get the ST boots? I am saving up my soldiery to get the weathered piece atm
I have weathered gloam ring, St belt, allagan earrings and bracelet, all the rest is the myth gear
The pieces that are worth getting from ST are the Head, Chest, Belt and Legs.
The WA sabatons are your best bet for this week, coupled Guardian chest/breeches from ST and Moogle ribbon, will definitely give you an accuracy boost and allow you to switch to Allagan spear until you get your Animus.
It would also probably be in your best interest to farm for Allagan gauntlets T2, and Allagan trousers T1 (Both acc + det).
At that point, I would probably switch Allagan visor/Guardian Helm. I would also consider farming for a gorgeous Ramuh ring.
there
One day I'll be sorry for not givin out to all the elitist persons such as yourself in this thread that little something more.
Guess what, we all put efforts in our classes and personnal gameplay, on top of that I don't like to strictly follow what has been written by others. Never did, never will. Then again its not like I didn't give any hint away, even told to a well known Dragoon on Exodus some insight about how to toy with what I was edvocatin in my earlier post and he found by himself.
So, if a piss poor attitude actually consist to not publicly writtin down things but still helpin people to aim in the right direction by directly talkin to them on the live server, I'm kinda glad to not stick to your downright insultin, haughty vision of how things have to be and I certainly don't feel bad about it.
"look at this jerk, haha, its not even worth to talk to him and Ill throw my glove on his silly face so he hide it when I walk next by to his presence"
Why are you hating on Syg? Sure it's great when people share their big burst opener, but isn't it more fun for you to figure it out on your own? I'd love it if it was shared, but I'm not gonna be mad at someone on the forums for not sharing. Rather use that time to sit and try to figure it out on my own.
hey guys im just a few days old into the game, god mar to 15 and my lancer is closing in on 30.
just a quick question, as im lvling and dont have all my abilities is it ok to keep my buffs up and spam imp drive when im in dungeons? this seems the best dps because it feels like the animation is faster than the TT + VT combo while doing the same damage.
ID also consumes more tp then you regen in a cycle. Combos are front loaded on to cost and back loaded on dmg. Just something to keep in mind in longer encounters.
Hmm I *think* I know what you do..Will have to get my hamster to give me some numbers when i get home.
Sorry if this double posts..EE's 4g is terrible today.
I'm not mad at you Syg, that's like calling out a retarded kid for double dribbling. However, I feel you kind of missed the point... Yes, there are always ways to improve your class, and kudos for you for finding out a way to do so. But the point of THIS thread, is to share information to help other drgs in the community become better, and to help get rid of that loldrg stigma. Your post did neither of those. Look how much work Avyar did to help the community with this thread. I doubt there would be 330+ pages if he originally wrote: "I found the best way to drg but I'm only gonna give you a hint, nah, nah, nah, nah." Either share it or keep it to yourself... posting "hints" isn't helpful to anyone.
On a side note, I could give two sh!ts about your opening rotation... I out dps you anyway *mic drop*
Oh snap! He do more deeps!
I'm with ya here buddy. I'm full i110, not yet BiS need the T9 drops, but in T8 my best parse to date was only 430, but I keep seeing how my numbers are on the low end, and especially in other fights like T6/7 if I'm over 370 I'm doing great but according to the forums thats bad :P I'm wondering though, as a community, what are your kill times for certain bosses? Our last T6 was 5:07 and our last T8 was 8:33, our best times yet. I am very curious to see how my groups times do compared to everyone else's, just in case someone isn't adding up our dps right on there notepad
EDIT: Don't care about T7 so much as our group stalls a lot for safety on Renauld timers
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
