I was leveling my ninja through POTD(repeating 51-100), and was called a shitstain for trying to get the chests and going for the hoard. Then they kicked me.

I've been playing this game for over a year and this is the first I came across such mean people and was kicked from something.

Ran Bismark (hard mode for Story) last night. 3 new players in the fight. two players clearly stated there were 3 new players in the fight.
First attempt, slight disarray as new players understand the flow of the fight. The group wipes with Bismark at about 10%.
3 players promptly quit without a word.
less than 2 minutes later, full party again, and we start over, nice smooth and quick run, cleared in short order.
People, if you are quitting after a single wipe when you knew that 3/8 of the party were brand new to the fight, then you are nothing but a quitter. You can criticize players who you view as 'less skilled' than you all you like, at least they are not quitters, unlike you.
Oh, I should have added, I was one of the 3 new players along with my wife and son, and when we queued for it we went with a friend who also plays PLD, so we had a light party of 2 tanks a WHM and a Bard. The other healer we got (Scholar) stuck with us (thank you!). I just find it amazing how little patience and consideration is shown. I hope the DPS that left enjoyed their continued Q wait. -

After finally getting Mimesis for SMN a few days ago, I figured I'd continue with my bard anima, which was also up to the 270 upgrade step. I get the first few dungeons over with, and I apologize for getting readjusted to Bard after not having played it in awhile. They were pretty smooth runs though. I can't remember my item level off-hand, but I'd say it's about 257/258. Pretty much all Diabolic/Shire pieces except for the normal Creator ring.
Then I get into two Dun Scaith runs with friends to help them with getting gear (and some llght for me). Both went fairly slow to what I'd been used to as SMN. Especially the second one which went through 3 wipes at Scathach and one at Diabolos Hollow. After my friends quit for the day, I decided to keep rolling with roulettes. I landed in Baelsar's Wall for Expert and the run was going really slow as well. While I've been suspicious that it's been me this whole time, I notice the ninja is item level cheesing: wild mix of 235/270 left side and 235 right side... with a caster ring and a slaying ring. Ouch. We finished in just over 30 minutes, even with no wipes or raises.
So... if anyone happens to run into me in DF over the next few days, I'll most likely be on Bard, and I'll most likely still be paranoid about my contribution. Feel free to point out if I'm consistently screwing something up, although some patience might be required. -

A few days ago, I decided to run Dun Scaith as a THM. I hate this dungeon so much.
Anyway, amazingly enough, I wasn't kicked outright for daring to show up without a soul crystal. Depressingly enough, I never dropped below #5 on the aggro list, and more often than not, hovered around the #3 spot, behind the MCH and MNK, and above the 2 SMNs.
But somehow, this wasn't the worst part.
The worst part was that I never once died during this run.
I have yet to manage a run of Dun Scaith without any personal deaths as BLM. And yet, the first time I decide to run as a class just for the heck of it, I manage to stay alive even as others drop around me. I mean, part of it was the fact that the SCHs seemed oddly focussed on keeping me alive, up to the point of throwing multiple Lustrates on me for reasons I can't comprehend, but... still. -

I queued up for level 60 roulette last night, and at one point while waiting felt the need to use the bathroom, and before I could leave to go, df pops sending me into ARF. I joke about how of course df would find a group right as I decide to go use the bathroom, and the tank I got was actually willing to wait and let me go first. I decided to just wait till after we finished to go, run was slower than normal, but was a group that was fun to talk to.

Queued for Leveling last night and got Toto-Rak with a catboy who had literally just unlocked DRK. His search info didn't even show DRK yet, it was still the "-" mark. As he had no other tanks unlocked, he was pretty terrible, but my buddy and I started feeding him tanking tips, and by the end, he was doing pretty well for a 30-minute-old tankling.

I feel like I've said this before, but why are stacking mechanics in this game so backwards?
The way they're set up, people who stack get damaged, while people who don't stack take no damage whatsoever. So basically, people who do the mechanic right get punished for doing so, while people who don't get off free.
Who designs a mechanic this way and why? -

02-22-2017, 01:28 PMIlenyaI find this a weird question, because there *are* mechanics that require the whole group to be relatively close (Gold orb in Ferdiad Hollow comes to mind). The stack mechanic isn't a "You need to take damage" thing, it's a "You need enough people here to not outright kill the target". With how the mechanic works, while more people stacked means less damage taken, not everyone has to stack, so people who aren't nearby don't get screwed when it hits.Quote:
