Yesterday I went Aitiascope as DPS (because obviously I ain't going healer) to farm the minion, and both the SCH and second DPS died, leaving just me and the WAR at the second boss alive. We survived the fight because of WAR.

That shouldn't be possible, but it is.

When Asura fight got released, yes, everyone in the party we new to the fight, yet our tanks were WAR and PLD. Everyone was dead at boss' 56%, yet the tanks duo'd the boss until the clear, giving no one a chance to enjoy the fight, even after the party demanded a reset. They didn't listen. Was this fun? Not at all. We all spent like 10-15 minutes dead watching tanks fight it alone. Things like these aren't fun, it's active grieving by SE. Maybe SE should ban themselves for breaking their own rules.

Years ago in WoW I was complaining to a friend about how long DPS queues were on my very small server (Steamwheedle Cartel) at the times I played because there were either no healers or tanks. He said to me "Well fix the problem. Roll one of each and play the one you like." I healed for years after that and even tanked some. There will be people who will pick it up if the lack of healers becomes a huge burden.

This game healing didn't click for me. For some reason I have a very bad time keeping up with tanks that take off and wall to wall in a way I never had in WoW. I mean literally cannot run fast enough to keep up. Makes healing in this game very stressful and not fun for me so I stopped.

I respect the people that do heal. I respect your right to try and effect a change by this strike. I just have my own doubts how effective it will be over the course of Dawntrail because I do foresee it taking till 8.0 when they are reworking all jobs anyway. 2-3 year wait for healers? A whole lot of people are going to choose to "fix the problem" if it goes on that long.

Or they pick up the role and decide to join the strike lol. Can't be much fun for them to play healer either.

We are also waiting already for 5 years (in an 11 years old game). There is no excuse to wait till 8.0 to fix the healer role. They have to fix it now! And if that means that 7.1 has to be delayed so be it.

It is when it's based around information that's given from an official source. These projects are not official, and both give radically different numbers/metrics.

It is, and that assumption was correct. The game is more popular in Japan than it is in the West, which was based on the fact that they implemented another set of servers in the JP datacenter, with the addition of Meteor and with Dynamis for NA. Dynamis had only 4 servers until today, which are being spun up.

As for Lucky Bancho's works and methodology, I have no doubt that it's good for something, but I'm certainly not going to base anything on his metrics alone, especially when the discrepancy between at-capacity and congested servers in Japan was always higher than in NA or EU respectively. That literally conveys to me that the game is more popular there. I'd like some official statistics from SE, maybe some live numbers, but until they decide to roll that out, we're stuck with this.

Well you also have to understand that Japan has a significantly smaller population compared to the North America and Europe (the continents, not USA and any specific EU nation).

If we factor in the populations of each of these countries during the respective haydays of these consoles relative to population, you'll see a ratio that's more consistent and similar, with mobile platforms outperforming home consoles compared to the west of course.

JRPGs have always done better in their home market than in any specific foreign market, just like how WRPGs do better in Western markets than in east Asian or Japanese markets. I'm not saying everything abides by this rule, as I had already pointed out an exception, but the status quo has not and likely will never change unless demographics in Japanese gaming shift so far away.

This idea that Japanese products need to appeal to a global audience before their own is a pervasive and disgusting presumption that I've always found particularly annoying, which is why in my original post I told people to 'know their place' and 'this isn't their game'.

Doesn't explain what you get out of it. I wanted to know how you tangibly benefit. If I, for example, get the wrong order at a drive through, and I go in to complain that I got a wrong order, I expect to walk out with a corrected order. That is what I tangibly get out of addressing the issue of getting a wrong order.

What do you get out of being rude and spiteful to people about something you don't care about and are not invested in?

I suspect 7.1 is an extremely optimistic hope. A complete redesign of all healer classes is going to take time and even more time to make sure they fit with all the other classes to make sure content works. For all we know they are already planning and working on the 8.0 changes (likely they are). I don't see any kind of major change before then.

Like I said I feel bad for you guys. I even encourage you to not play something you find unfun. Call it a strike if you like.

I am a realist though casuals like me this will barely affect now that duty support and trusts are a thing. Particularly in older content that I choose to hang out in. The rare case I need a group I have one thing many lack, patience. I have done 6 hour queues on a dead server before. I can do long queues again. Others without patience will "Fix the problem" for themselves.

As I said I wish all of you well but I would not be hoping for actual change before 8.0. If they somehow pull it off before then great but I very much doubt they will.

For the most part, abstaining from any Df content as a healer role. Wether that includes not levelling at all or only using trusts to level healer or experience the story seems to vary more. Most likely instead of queueing in DF steps will be made to set up healer only or non-healer runs of content - whatever people are comfortable with really outside of the initial show of support - the discord is growing quite nicely so hopefully at the very least we get group therapy and a pool of players to do PFs with as an alternative to only existing to make DF queues pop faster for everyone else. Disrupting other people's queues or dungeons by quitting or dropping out is NOT the intention, in case we haven't been clear enough!
