No, you are definitely not the only one...but it is good to know that it will be implemented at all. Must work out a final name "soon" then...

just came to see if anything had been updated. I didnt catch the Q&A so this update makes this so thrilled!
While I can hope/beg for 10/28 and 2.4 to be a surprise release, maybe 2.43/2.45/2.48? :)

I doubt it will be put in in 2.4. Although I'm sure the preliminary patch notes aren't including absolutely everything in store, I feel like they would have mentioned it. I could definitely could be wrong, and I will certainly hope/beg with you anyways! Also, does anyone happen to have a link to the Q&A where this was confirmed? It seems my normal detective skills are failing me today...Apologies in advance. Haha

So excited!! I really hope it's included in the store, but just knowing they've got it going is great. If it's not included, then a minor update would be cool. I'd hate to have to wait for the next big patch. I've already got my name all picked out!

It depends on them... I'm thinking about returning to Eorzea, but I don't like my current name, so if they implemented this service, I'd love paying fees again :)

For my part, no one really types my character's full name anymore. I've gotten so used to "Ling", for short, that cut scenes seem weird to me when the full is said. I still love the sound of my first name, but the decision to change includes people snarling over the literal definition of lingerie over it simply being a word used as a name.

Good to know I didn't have to dig through 5+ pages to find this thread since the launch of 2.4!
Anywho, Square Enix, if there is any additional information a dev can give us on the name change service, that would be greatly appreciated. With the cash shop here now, implementing a single character name change for an additional fee would greatly benefit the player base, while filling up your pocket with money :P

I'm just going to drop this in here, for all you naysayers who are implying that people would use this as a griefing tool, first of all if a system like this were implimented SE would have to be incredibly ignorant to implement it without keeping a history for GM purposes, So no people wouldn't be able to just get away with anything they wanted.

I have more faith in SE than that, They think about these things before they implement them.

And on top of that, if people are so worried about keeping track of people they dont like, what does that say?

Indeed! All I could find was a bit of a summary of the impromptu Q & A, which really did just say, "Players will soon be allowed to change their characters’ names." I shall keep waiting I suppose...

I will add my name to the list here. Most games now allow you to change you characters name for a fee. Sometimes I just get tired of the name I chose and would like to change it to one that suits me. I would gladly pay for that service. Please consider this option SE. And you have my thanks.

The sooner the better. I'm not going to pay to swap servers just to adjust a few letters over my head.

I named my character based on a TRPG character I used to play. Now that I know more about FF XIV's lore and came to love it, I wish to change it to a more lore-friendly name.
Yes this decision was inspired purely by how Cocobusi was such a cutie. But that's beside the point.

I would like to see a name change item. I used a Fantasia a while back to change from a hyur to a miqo'te and now my name is not lore friendly at all. Please implement one SE!!

A name change feature would be awesome! Bans and blacklists should be against the account and not specific characters anyway. Just because a person makes a new character with a different name, race and appearance doesn't mean they're going to stop spamming, robbing and trolling. Character's name should just be cosmetic.
