It is great yet sad at the same time that at 2013 we still need LGBT Guilds/Linkshells. But hopefully the wheel is turning.

As a gaymer there's so little choice on Cerberus for me to join! Same goes for my bf.
Hoped to find some real dedicated LGBT FC on this server...

Aaaaaand the other half. Honestly, I never understood defining one's identity around something that an individual has no control over. I don't want to be known as "that gaymer;" I want to be known for things that I can affect: my level of humility, intelligence, and being able to dodge bombs on Titan properly.

I don't know about other servers, but I havent seen any anti gay, sexist or racist remarks in the 3 months I've been playing the game. Or even in this forum, so that's good for everybody I suppose

I dont get why anyone has an issue of this thread unless they are offended by lgbt for wutever reason. Ni one gets their panties in a bunch when RP groups are looking for other RP groups. Or when anime lovers seek out other like minded pplz to play with. Just replace all the lgbt text in this thread with anime or cute fluffy kittens and I bet pplz wouldnt be confused as to why the thread was created. Wish pplz would actually understand the simple purpose of this thread lol

I never do play an MMO with the intention of joining a predominantly gay guild, nor have I yet to actually join such a guild, but I've been lucky enough to find a welcoming and accepting FC on Zalera (I joined pretty early in its conception). We don't advertise that we're LGBT-friendly ... we just sort of happen to be.

There's this whole 'bro' culture that my boyfriend and I keep running into in FCs and Coil groups where people say the N word and the F word pretty much every sentence. I'm assuming it's coming from the Call of Duty/League of Legends genre where it's cool to say those sorts of things, but as someone that was in an LGBT guild (in WoW) for the last 3 years where that sort of language isn't tolerated whatsoever, it was very jarring to see those words coming out. When confronted with the players who use the F word as their favorite word, they say "oh I don't mean it like gay, I mean like they were stupid". Yeah, ok. Could they not have picked a different word?

It happened to me yesterday, in fact. I was in CT and someone came in and there were 2 afk people and he said "Can we kick those two afk F*****s?". I asked him not to use that sort of language and then he went on to defend that it's his time and his game and he can say whatever he wants. I threatened to report him and he left after Bone Dragon.

People should be able to enjoy the game in an FC where people will treat them with respect and decency and not be exposed to that sort of language. Most FCs aren't filled with the 'bros', but being in a primarily lgbt or lgbt-friendly FC will decrease the odds of that happening in the first place.

Exactly. It's not a matter wanting to segregate oneself completely from other straight people or only wanting to only party with other LGBT peeps. People just want to avoid unnecessary drama/stress when possible. Different people play for different reasons, and have different BS tolerance levels. Other gay people need to understand that too. Just because you haven't run into it or have thicker skin doesn't mean you should expect everyone to have it too.

I'm in a regular FC that is very accepting and I have an LGBT player linkshell for funsies. It's nice being able to crack a joke or talk about 'that guy is attractive' or 'my boyfriend and I' blah blah without weirding people out.

Because this isn't a good comparison. You're conflating sexuality (something more or less innate) versus lifestyle interests/hobbies (more or less a developed preference). The ironic thing is that this argumentative approach is the same one most bigots that we know and love use.

Right? It's not like people go around in public life expressing their sexuality. I wish they would just pass a law in every state recognizing same sex unions and be done with it. It's getting old. lol if i would of used something that gets just as much controversy (religion, politics, fetishes) then it wouldnt of really get my message across because there would be some people that are offended for wutever reason. Basicly like minded pplz seeking to join others regardless of what that might be shouldnt be all that confusing to understand. sorry my english isnt perfect to actually get the message out to how i want it to the point its misleading and misunderstood completely. We don't have a site but you can contact Zanthera Kuri, Sibby Webb, Rulian Esteban, Venitas Aurelius, Rydia Silverwolf, Sylece Mayfair, Rhodri Braddock, Spooks Mcbiscuits, or Adair Rallis for an invite. (Damn didn't know we had so many leaders.)

Hi Ozaro, I've just made a brand new LS today since I don't see any on Siren (at least not from this thread's front page), the LS still in progress of recruiting LGBT/LGBT supports. At the moment, I'm the only one in the LS, I don't want to shout in MD and get random players who joins just to start some homophobic abuse.

Most players on Siren aren't as open (the impression I've got) as players from other servers.

Thank you so much for the consideration. Seeing things like this make me feel much safer being open with my sexuality when playing online. ;)

I should've clarified that straight white men are allowed to join, but I was capped at 1000 characters. We have straight white men in the group, too, but we expect people to be allies and supportive first and foremost. Yes, women and people of color face discrimination online, too. Our FC is designed to be a safe space. We're not gonna justify the choice to be inclusive... as it shouldn't be a choice.

As a woman irl, yes. I feel very discriminated against in most gaming communities. Its actually startling how bigheaded and blind people are. ^^; I have no issues with anyone except when I get called a 'gear sl##' or a 'Bit##' just because I suggest another tactic. Or even better when 'men' decide it is prfectly okay to slander me and tell me to 'get back in the kitchen'.

I'm in Mercs on Hyperion and the atmosphere is great. I and a couple of others are gay guys and its a great FC to be in. feel free to look me up.

Hello everyone!
So this thread is pretty dated and from the looks of it the main page is not updated so I've been wondering, are there any LGBTQ Free Companies or Linkshells active on the European dedicated servers? I would start a new character there, for example on Moogle or Phoenix, but I want to make sure there's a point in doing so :)
Also, I already have a character on Balmung, but seeing how this is a NA server I am not sure if I find people to play with there, as, well, I am from Europe.
How does Free Companies/Linkshells look on Balmung? You have any European folks in your Link Shells?
