You see how in each of those shots, his hair fades to grey, not brown? Again, I know these are ingame compared to CGI, but it works the same way...so unless they specifically altered his hair color..

to a darker to a burnish color to show he was pretty close to some kinda action when Ul'dah got hit

The trailer seems to be more for to show abit of transitioning into a realm reborn. This is then....and this is now; a glimpse of the realm reborn and where some of our heros have made it into this new realm. Its not gonna be full story till in-game. The start of beta may not even show full-version, but when the product is finished all will be revealed and we'll be like wow!

If I was SE I would really troll players with Odin, 50% BAM Zantezuken party/alliance dead, then 6 months after release mention how they "missed out" the way to survive it, new emote, item, ability etc.

That's a pretty good want to introduce us back into the world. Though, Obviously being the missing dragoon in that picture, Lin is going to be ticked that Mr Handsome Warrior Man didn't wait for her to blink in.

*sniffles* All those Snubbles slain for the sake of Eorza and I didn't even get any screen time!

Great job SE dev team, I really enjoyed that opening! I hope BLM gets that magical shield in 2.0! Again, great job, can't wait for BETA, thank you team!

Just when Iam starting to settle in for the long haul of no FFXIV goodies until mid-feb, they double whammy us with a video + Beta invites.

My only beef would be the new intro shows nothing about the new story at all, but the End of An Era takes care of most of that anyway. I'm very impressed how much SE has been able to keep the concept art in tact.

im pretty sure somewhere yoshiP said that they were gunna do an extended trailer of the end of an era thing so i dont understand what the fuss is over

Actually, the reason they didn't show it at E3 was because of spoilers and End of an Era is the opening of the game, so they didn't say "we'll extend it" to my knowledge, just that End of an Era is part of it.

There's some disappointed people because even the stuff after end of an era we seen in various trailers already.

It is not a trailer...

This is a short CGI designed to introduce new players to the world and briefly explain what is going on.

People who did not play 1.0 and are not following the game on the forums will not know that Bahamut destroyed the world and we were saved by the living embodiment of a god.

lol to the guy complaining this intro doesn't reveal much...1.0 explains even less...the first time you saw it you figured out right away the midlander is going through an Echo? that the dragon was Midgarsormr and his fight with that huge ship broke the aether seal in silver tear lake by mistake ? and all that aether allowed primals to come into eaorzea? etc etc. ..i don't think so..

What i get from the extra footage is that the 4 members of the circle of knowing and everyone else didn't get frozen in time...thus why the changes in their looks.. and we see them react in a pleasant way like they know the adventure party and us just got out of the time freeze and they get on the move to greet us.. if they knew when and where we would pop out again they could easily arrange it for chocos to wait for us and stuff

HURRAY!

Is it me or does the area they are running through at the end look more like Corethas?

And also... I do ask as well... What is that mechanical device that 3 of the 4 are wearing... and why is Yda wearing goggles when she already can't see well with her mask she is wearing.

The more I watch the video, the more I'm convinced we are seeing a renewed Mor Dhona. That leaves the snowy region as Coerthas (which was already stated in the concept of the reworked zone art).

You think so? Since the group is warped out of Mor Dhona during the final moments of Bahamut, it stands to reason there is a good chance they would pop back in at this location.

That was my thinking as well. Seeing the 2009 E3 trailer really makes the landmark similarities stand out. Can't want to play this. It is looking like the dev team has done a fantastic job with the time they have had.

Maybe not directly Mor Dhona ..the battle was a little south west at the Flats ..don't remember first name.. and the adventurers are heading south?
