The original Crysis was badly optimised. >_> Hence why it still chugs on most hardware today.

I recently bought an ASUS G73W Gaming laptop, and I'm kind of impressed at how beautifully the game runs on it. Even after a few hours, this machine is still running cool. Are you guys sure your machine settings are correct?
umm you sir are full of it Asus laptops naturally run hot, so unless you made some massive modifications I dont see how this is physically possible. Especially when every tech forum tells you from the get go on a Asus laptop crack it open and replace the horrid GPU paste they install on the systems. Please post some pictures of MSI afterburner video card specs etc. I would bet you that your video card is running 73C in game when playing XIV.
Just chiming in to say that I recently upgraded my nvidia drivers to version 270.61 which reduced the temps about 20 degrees. I'm beginning to think the problems are more on the driver end than SE's.
G73's are the ones with the giant jet vents on the back. My friend played on one back in beta and rarely hit 60C.
My G60 however has a standard side vent, and can run a bit hot. It used to run at about 74~89C until I updated drivers.
Same results here, more or less. Went from the above temps to running 60~72C.
There is work to be done on both ends, as Square needs to further optimize the engine and NVidia needs to optimize drivers.
No need to argue on particular laptop models here guys.

They removed the recommended system specs, they might be found in other places but isn't it suspect that they removed them from the game's main site?
So we have:
1) Minimum system requirements are completely misleading. The game will run like crap on them.
2) Recomended system requirements are gone, because they rather not tell you that you need an i7 and a matching GPU to run the game well.
They have lot of optimizations to do, but lots of people would be content with being able to trade eye candy level for some frames per second and a cooler system.
Ummm...they are MINIMUM requirements. I actually spent a weekend playing on worse hardware then that and was still able to maintain framerate in the 20s and enjoy playing the game even if it looked like crap from all the settings reductions. Minimum specs should tell you what it takes to RUN the game, not what it takes to RUN the game and make it PRETTY (which certainly would be a good quad core chip and a $150+ graphics card)
Wheir can i get an app that will show me my temp??
SpeedFan Website http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
Speedfan can be buggy with incorrect temp reads. I recommend HWmonitor instead.

Nope I think I was playing in a 1024x768 window. But that's the point....the game ran - it doesn't matter how it looks. That's the point of minimum. I had no issues participating in parties, behests, or anything - i could still chat with LS mates and have a good time. The framerate was plenty sufficient to play the game. That's the whole point. The graphics might have sucked....but the game runs. If you have crappy hardware, turn the settings down.
What exactly does MINIMUM mean to you? MINIMUM to me should mean all settings to Low or 1 and produces 24+ FPS (which is smooth enough for play..or HD movies..)
Except for the fact 24fps will be glitchy in a game
This thread needs to be kept relevant. Bumping.
Agreed. I want something along the lines of "We've decided that we're going to go ahead and implement DX10 and 11 support for the game. But please understand that this takes time blah blah blah."
You won't see anything from devs until at least the end of the week. It's golden week over there.
Yeah. But we won't see anything on THIS matter from the devs for a long time.
This and moving the UI/inventory/processing over to the client are the two biggest things that will help with performance/lag.
While the client-side UI will help, I agree that it'll only help to a certain point as long as the server-side confirmations are still there for every single action/selection.
Theres almost 8 confirmations when trying to teleport somewhere... Thats fucking absurd.
*press triangle*
Can I open the menu?
Yes.
*Select teleport*
Can I open this menu?
etc etc.
The only real confirmation that is needed is:
CAN I FUCKING PORT TO THIS LOCATION!?
Bumping due to lack of Developer Update
They should just code it like most other games that the gpu never gets the 99%/100% usage, rather stop at 97 or 98% that usually gives you -10degrees or better and the fps is the same. Games who use my gpu to the "capped" 97% all the time dont get even close as hot, some are like 20 degrees cooler even. Its the coding or something (im no programmer but should be fixable).
I would also rather see at least an option to limit fps below the 60, if that is done right the mmo would be playable and still look smooth, getting fps between 40 and 60 causes much more feeling of none-smooth gameplay.
My system crashed twice today because of memory problems, this is definitly an issue that needs adressed
I totally agree with Elk. There's nothing that stings more than when you put your hard-earned money into quality parts for a great PC then turn on this game and watch your cpu run like sh*t for absolutely no reason...
I have poked for a comment about the lack of a comment. I'm not sure what can be detailed specifically, or how much detail we can get, but I do apologize about the delay in getting a response to this.
It is understandable that getting a coherent answer in this case is probably more then just asking, since this deals with the core of the engine itself.
Thanks bayohne that's all we can ask right now, we as a playerbase however will not be letting this topic die. Is it possible you can point Yoshi himself into the direction of this topic and explain the urgency of need for a comment fro him regarding this. This is by far one of if not the biggest issue that should be on SE plate whether it be updating the engine to DX11 or not. Summer is fast approaching and we would like to put this behind us as a playerbase and move onto even more game mechanics.
