damn except for the bahamut parts the whole ending trailer remined me to the opening CG to lost odyssey
Louisoix ... noooooo!
You mean the Black Wolf. ;)
Though I do imagine that the Empire is probably not overly happy about the ending, since their whole campaign was to kill off the Primals, not unleash another one! Which means Darnus kinda either got the last laugh or is rolling around in his damn, devil tomb.
Though I do see the Black Wolf doing a Darth Vadar turn on his ship when Bahamut shows up thinking to himself: oO(How far we have fallen. For we unleash a beast to handle beasts and thus condeming ourselves to be no better then the very ones we fight.)Oo
Cause I have to admit, between the White Raven (Darnus) and the Black Wolf. I had come to respect and care about the Black Wolf a great deal. He is actually a very admirable and honorable general.
Though as how everything gets repaired in 5 years. Maybe the Garlean Empire came in and just placed the remaining people to work (along with their own) and moved in. After all, that is kinda what you do when you invade an area.
This is what makes him an engaging character. He truly feels what he is doing is for the good of the world. Sure, Darnus thought the same thing, but his plan was to wipe out all life and he convinced himself that was a bright idea. Gaius is just out to kill the Primals in order to give the power back to the 5 races and to expand the Garlean empire to ensure everything goes as planned all over the world.
Darnus was a psycopath. Gaius is just being a military General. There's good in him.
Chances that Gaius goes rogue to help fight the monstrosity he allowed released?
After waiting semi AFK for six hours then mass server issues I decided not to fight it and went to bed. Thank you to all who posted screenshots of the final battle as it filled in the blanks for those who missed it. I don't regret missing out on the final moments as they seemed not as eventful as one would have hoped. I do regret not sharing the last moments with fellow friends, which in my opinion is the best event of all in FFXIV. Thank you SE for the final cinematic to 1.0. It was nice to wake up today and read the forums, watch the cinematic and read the Q&A. Now the wait for a post of the "Live letter" to finalize the end of an era... See you all on the forums, blogs, fan sites and 2.0!
man when the war and pld did Steel Cyclone/Spirits within i was like OMG!!!
For those asking about Uldah:

I made a nearly identical post on a different forum this morning, and I'm thinking the exact same thing. Bahamut finally broke free after ejecting one of the spikes to the ground; which look so very close to what the Twelve were trying to use. The blue barrier is almost identical in size/shape/styling as Dalamud. That leaves me with 2 thoughts: 1) it's possible that Bahamut isn't really more powerful than the Twelve, he was just specifically prepared for that trick and attempt at imprisonment (so that's not to say something else the Twelve do, although taking longer, do finally reduce or negate his destruction and power. And 2) it may have been the Twelve (with or without the Allagans) who did the original imprisonment.
The following is not my original idea:
Although the Twelve had been talked about as individuals, deities with (presumably) corporeal or spiritual forms, when we actually see them in action it's nothing like that. They are seen in this trailer as more a "system" or "order", or perhaps laws of nature and the universe; sort a machine that is invoked. It's possible there's a twist coming with what the true nature of the Twelve are.
I stayed up til 5 or 6 in the morning for this whole event and let me just say, my jaw stayed dropped throughout the whole ending. Just epic!
I truly cannot stop watching this, even the morning after.
I'm sorry, but the music that goes so perfectly with the sealing spell they are casting, the grand scope of the spell, and just.....kalgjakljgdlghdalgh!
EDIT:
Also, it doesn't look like the sealing spell *failed* as in Bahamut resisted, but rather it didn't get to complete because it was interrupted by Bahamut. If that makes sense? Can't word it better at the moment, sorry. ><
Gaius Van Baelsar is one of the most interesting characters i think, will be interesting to learn his origin and agenda in ARR. I think he may be the descendant of a nation that garleans conquered long ago. I say this because, it seems like he knew what was inside Dalamud all along. This is a quote taken from the "Don't Hate the Messenger Quest":
This kind of suggests that Gaius knew what Dalamud was, it also suggests that whatever is up there has been growing in power. This might explain why the sealing spell did not work, the spell might have been strong enough to seal him the first time but he has grown more powerful now.Quote:
The impact of the red moon would destroy the primals in an instance. Little wonder that his Radiance embraced the scheme. But Dalamud is no mere rock, despite what Van Darnus would have us believe. It is a great red sin, exiled to the skies by the ancient Allag. There it has long festered. becoming something far more vile than we ever supposed.
That ending was absolutely amazing. It was the masterpiece I expected from SE and pulled at alot of emotions. I kept sitting there waiting for the "Please enter Disc 2" message.
Well if you are correct the Louisoix we see on the trailer is Thaliak himself coming to Eorzeas rescue at the last minute and transporting our heroes to a safer place. Is Thaliak the 9th deity? If you space his name properly it could be that he is really Louiso IX or alternately Louis 0IX the ninth member of the twelve. Just a thought! In any case I believe he does not die perhaps only his Archon only to be reincarnated in ARR.
13 hours after the trailer was released and it still affects me... if anything a lot more than the first time... I can't stop watching it...
I keep going back to the part where Bahamut roars in front of Louisoix and the first beam of light appears from Gridania. The music coupled with the grand scale of that sealing spell is just phenomenal.
You know that scene in Return of the King where the Rohirrim are making their final charge towards the forces of Mordor at Minas Tirith? I watched that in theaters and cried just from the sheer epic.
Can you imagine this trailer in a movie theater?
I would be worse than a little girl... If anyone works in a movie theater please get this trailer in it...
Amazing... I'm pretty sure Bahamut has only been sealed not destroyed. Bravo to Yoshi and the CGI department! Incredible ending to a hopeful beginning :)
I'm now left with this same feeling whenever I finish a regular JRPG. A mixture of satisfaction, sadness and nostalgia.
I always loved the cutscenes between my character and Louisoix. It was like Ron talking to his grandfather and I often thought of him like being one lol. Found this nice screenshot in my massive screenshot folder.

We still got to see the second part of this CG trailer there is more to it than we have seen so far ..remember on the trailer with the female voice "The crystal dreams" we see Odin on Sleipner in Mor Dhona that now comparing it to this ending trailer i can tell he manifests right when Bahamut is charging megaflare ..so is Odin just collecting souls lol or he does something to stop Bahamut? Or visiting an old friend?
This trailer is getting overwhelming praise all over the internet. Best CGI trailer, Best MMO trailer, even some regular haters are enjoying it.
Remember when Yoshi told us about Free Company can control one primal (something like that)? Bahamut maybe one of them and the Garleans just releasedd it! Wtf, so powerful. @_@
Good Gracious! I don't know how many times I've watch the trailer, but everytime I do, it just rocks my socks for lack of better words! Sheesh that vid/ending was NICE!!!!!
Well, the fact the 12 sealing failed is likely Hildebrand's fault. He's not a Primal, and he's probably clinging somewhere on Bahamut for dear life.
http://www.savevid.com/ will allow you to dl full 1080p to your hard drive if you're interested
Thank you very kindly.
Also, I have a semi-big question that I can't remember being answered...
Are ALL players, new and old, going to have the same start in ARR? Or are the Legacy players getting a special intro explaining things when you wake up?
Like:
Brand New Player --> Log-in, Character Creation, Arrives in City, Tutorial Level,
7th Umbral-event Player (7UP!) --> Log-in, Character Edit, Special Zone/Cutscene, Arrive in City
EDIT:
I only ask because brand new players weren't involved in the trailer/last battle. Is it being implied they were, or are we going to have a slight change in the opening for players who were actually present?
I thought I would post my new desktop wallpaper, with added caption :)

Dalamud gives you wings.
Every ending marks a new beginning..
And from the flames of destruction, that new beginning rises.
Come forth, great heroes! Bear witness to A Realm Reborn!
The video is unbelievable; possibly the best CG video / game CS I have ever seen; better than the opening to FFXII, which I thought was great. I haven't played in two months and I am super amped for ARR now. Love the great press around the web on the trailer right now.
