Are you serious? Rampager with double IV enmity meld?

It might be MND. Alkalurops can't affix with Healing Potency since it's 2handed.
Hrm! I thought it'd be a goal worth pursuing. But now it is definitely far more effort than it is reliably worth. Mayhaps if a 12% (?) CoS materia meld was not involved (30% perhaps? 50% in my dreams, I guess).
Seriously, this is certainly reminding me of the tales of incredible pain, suffering, needless grind and sense of hopelessness all of my friend who played FFXI tell me.
The weapons seem rather underwhelming for what you have to do to get them...
What is the chance to successfuly attach a second tier IV materia to one of these weapons?
Also- is the weapon gone when you turn it in? or do you keep it?
Other rank 50ish gear is around 18% (give or take a couple %), +1 versions increase that a little, maybe 5%.
It's around 16%~20% for NQ weapon, it's not all that bad. Prolly need 10m if you are unlucky.
so lets see, I could probably get astrolabes for 2 mil, so with a <20% chance, you're averaging 10 mil not including the materia.
a fair bit, though nowhere near what a relic weapon costs.
So the Misers Mythril, I believe, comes out of extra chests in Aurum Vale.

I opened it, but only Grade 5 Dark Matter went directly to my inventory. The chest is reopenable by everyone in the party, but doesn't drop the mythril everytime.
Yeah, I'm not doing this. At least not until a future job of interest comes out
When he first posted about double melding a T4 materia.. I thought he was major trolling. Then I saw the pic.
Yeahhhhhh I'll stick to my GC weapons. ONCE AGAIN, SE confuses hardwork/challenge with luck. Way to go...
Reading this thread just made me lose my faith with SE.
Grinding and being rewarded for points which you can use to get whatever you want is so much better than having really bad drop-rates.
Every update I am slowly hating FF14 more and more to the point that I am wanting to quit this game, I'm fine with grinding for points to get something but grinding to get nothing but having a very small chance of getting something is horrid and puts me off from doing any content that has this stupid drop-rate system.
Aren't relic weapons supposed to be something not everyone has?
wait wait wait, correct me if i am wrong,
1) First of all you neeed 9 seals and the 25k Key item and trade it to rowena
2) Then i need to go to garolt npc and he gives me the quest of obtaining class specific weapon with doublemelt and kill 1 stronghold boss
and at last (by now) i need to farm items from either/and AV and CC? are these steps correct and nothing wrong?
Sniper, just to confirm:
Was the materia required consistent across everyone in your LS doing the quest?
You were asked to meld 2x manathirst to your Avengers in your quest book. Were others in your LS asked to do the same, as with enmity for WAR, hells' fist for BLM, etc.?
I don't want people to get a jump start on this and meld the wrong materia and blow up their very expensive weapons.
I wouldn't say the double-melded weapon is easy unless you have the matching craft/gatherer yourself or your LS so you don't have to pay a huge price for it. So far everything has been within the realm of reason and is doable with a dedicated party of 8. You don't have to get the weapon if you don't feel like it is worth it, not everyone is meant to have them and the new GC weapons and Garuda weapons are still really damn strong as it is.
I do agree hamlet is probably the hardest part, my LS doesn't have the ideal setup (hell i'm the only person with a capped gathering class) but once we get a setup that works for us it's just a matter of time. Once more hamlet ranks get added and the drop rate increases it will be easier to get seals.
Yes.
Enmity x2 T4 for Rampager.
Hell's Fist x2 T4 for Astrolabe.
Heaven's Eye (ACC T4) x2 for Sarnga.
Manathirst T4 x2 for Avengers.
Savage Might x2 T4 for Obelisk. I believe Savage Might and not Savage Aim, but I am not 100%, so do not quote me.
I don't have info on others, a couple WHM will start their relic reborn quest after next Lv.2 Golden Bazaar. I will know then if someone does not release info on it (really hoping for MND and not healing potency).
Thanks for the information Sniper Rifle.
My Guess is it will be MND or Magic Accuracy for WHM since you can't put Healing Potency on Alkalurops. Hopefully a WHM and PLD can chime in on what you need to meld on the weapon so people like me who aren't on the actual quest yet can try to get their weapon melds done ahead of time.
Edit: Nevermind, can't put magic accuracy on WHM staves either. Guess it's probably MND.
No one has considered that perhaps because the level cap is 50 right now, when future level increases come, they could add more quests to improve the stats of AF weapons more? I happen to think some of these stats are pretty good. ANd as of yet materia doesnt improve any job skills. WHat did you all expect? They confirmed a long time ago that we will always be able to MAKE better gear than what we get questing. You're suprised thats how it is?
It seems like the perfect way to get gil out of the economy if you ask me. You break your 100mil synth and have nothing to show for it and no one gets that cash .
I can confirm now it's Savage Might.

No one doing Pld weapon lol?
I can't facepalm any harder at all of this. I'm afraid I might smash my skull if I try. ffs SE.
nvm found the info
So is this about right so far?
Step 1 - Earn 25,000 seals and buy the key item "On the Properties of Beastment"
Step 2 - Obtain Inferno Seal x3, Tremor Seal x3, Vortex Seal x3 from Rank 2 Hamlet (gold chest requiring 60K+ scores)
Step 3 - Talk to Rowena and Exchange for a Soiled Promissory Note
Step 4 - Go to Gerolt and start Quest "A Relic Reborn"
Step 5 - Gather HQ mats and craft or buy Class-Only Weapons (prefferably HQ)
Step 6 - Double meld the gear with 2 Teir IV Materia of a specific Type as follows:
PLD = Mailbreaker + ? (Most Likely +HP based on AF stats)
MNK = Avengers + Manathirst IV (+MP)
WAR = Rampager + Touch of Rage IV (Emnity)
DRG = Obelisk + Savage Might IV (Crit Attack)
BRD = Sarnga + Heaven's Eye IV (Accuracy)
WHM = Alkaurops + ? (Most likely Mind based on AF stats)
BLM = Astrolobe + Hell's Fist IV (Magic Potency)
Step 7 - Kill chief NM of one specified Stronghold.
PLD =
MNK = Flamefist in Zaha'rak
WAR =
DRG =
BRD =
WHM =
BLM =
Step 8 - Gather 3 Materials from 6th Chest available at end of AV and CC Run
Items: Miser's Mythril (Aurum Vale), Alumina Salts (Cutter's Cry)
Step 9 - ?
heh.........
Guess relic not for everyone, just the lucky ones.
SE can officially ---- -- ---. Seriously? RNG for the dam 100k item to make a +1 mat in order to get a NQ weapon... wow. Not to mention that materia I've seen for 1-3 mil.
Guide started, thanks for info

I became much less worried about getting the relic weapon when I seen the new GC weapons which will be a nice upgrade while i grind for the relics
