If we were to assume thats concept art of the hammerbill cocatrice I'd also have to assume it's tail will be slightly different than the .dat we have known to exist for ages.

The OP is talking about the JP image, not the NA one.

The only problem myself and many others had was the Japanese image not being new and square Enix saying it was all "brand new concept art". I never said that all of the new artwork was old, In fact that was never brought up. Square Enix so far has officially changed their mistake.

yeh, it is hilarious, ho ho ho.

But no, he is NA, SE linked him to JP thread and said "keep an eye on them!", with the forwarded statement of "all new" from the "NA" side.

The fact that SE has now changed this, just shows that we had every reason to be unhappy, weather it was a lie, or a mistake, or a mistranslation, it ended up being fixed.

We'll get the real concept art in Hidden Artifacts 2.0.

I wasn't aware that recycling old content and pretending its new development was a "painstaking procedure". With all the consistent hype about the release of Final Fantasy XIV 2.0, the least Square Enix could do is give the players some actual new development content. It is both disappointing and ostentatious of Square Enix to release the same concept art that came with the Collector's Edition as the 'new exiting 2.0 content'. While it might not be implemented in the game currently, It is something many of us have seen before. It only took someone 5 minutes to recognize the artwork...

Edit: Square Enix has now changed their front page so it does not say "all new" anymore. Thankyou for clearing that up ^^

Even if they did change their disclaimer to remove "new" it changes nothing. They are still taking us for morons by making a contest/game for us to unveil artwork we can see right now with a google search.

SE really dropped the ball on this one, just like they did with XIV's launch. The same mentality is still there at the center of XIV's development team. This is scary when thinking about 2.0.

I predict the 2.0 trailer at E3 to be full of scenes of stuff we all been seeing everyday until now and the only 2.0 stuff in it will be pure CGI. I called it first :)

I take back my previous statement. I will admit, my intelligence does feel insulted. I don't know if the development team is trolling the reps here or they just want to fill something in hoping to distract us. Perhaps filler since they have not given us any information regarding anything since 1.22a. They haven't discussed AF weapons that everyone is eagerly waiting for and disappointed it hasn't made it into 1.22a. They could at least come out and say "Hell if we know when AF weapons are coming out!", at least they acknowledge it.

Ehh, as usual, communication with the team is awful and this quiz they have is just sticking a thumb in the wound. Not to mention, where is the 3rd Player Poll? Does SE want people to quit out of frustration with the service? I can't tell anymore.

This I wouldn't mind actually. The best thing about 2.0 is the new engine and a server structure that actually makes sense so they can make cool content. If all they have in E3 (months before release) is some CGI, that's ok.

We're essentially starting over.

Wow over 300 replies of people feeling lie to and insulted. Oooo SE is a bunch of con-artists, they are out to screw us over.

They did this because they have no real update to the front page of the lodestone planned. They don't want weeks to go by without the homepage changing. This gives the illusion of updates and new information. Basically this is filler

Would people stop complaing if they found out that 3/4 of the art is actually new? OMG what evil sons of biotches I can't believe they LIED TO US OMG WHY WHY WHY IS ONE PICTURE ONE WE"VE ALREADY SEEEEEEN. -_- Seriously so many people complaining because they recognized Behemoth off the back yet I have yet to see anyone pull out a full picture of the other 3 or even know 100% what it is.

Seriously this is how a portion of the posters on this topic sound like and it's really ridiculous, OMG THEY GAVE US A PIECE OF ARTWORK WE"VE SEEN WTFBBQ.

It's one picture and last I saw the quality on this one is a heck of a lot better then the one seen in the book, a dinky little small artbook where the behemoth is the size of a lottery ticket and here we're going to be getting a picture of behemoth in which we can see every fine detail even clearer. When I looked at the artbook yesterday to me the picture looks somewhat muddled, at least the picture they'll be revealing by Friday will be in high quality.

I mean seriously look at the picture Magnesium02 posted and tell me how does that EXACTLY look the same as the other picture other then being in the same position. It's clear as day that the one on the left has a higher quality then the one in the book.

Just seriously take a step back and stop making a campfire look like a forest fire cause that's exactly what's going on here in this topic.

Crisis is over, someone got confused over at SE and fixed it, nothing more to see here. For people saying the disappointed are overreacting you're sure making a fuss out of nothing yourselves. Guys, relax, they made a mistake with the wording, it happens.
Even if it was presented to us in concept art, as OP showed us, maybe they have a more detailed image now hidden behind layers and layers of blank images.

Even if it is the same behemoth, at least some people will appreciate it.

Don't make a big deal out of this for no reason.
