Exactly what I was thinking. However, many people on this forum tend to attack people who actually have legit complaints. I guess they think they are guarding virtue and honor of the company and the devs.
SE is a for profit corporation, they are* here to make money first and foremost. Many of us complain on here but we want the company to do better. You can sugar coat them all you want and chase away complainers with torches and pitchforks. It wont change the fact that their customer relations and PR department are doing crappy job. It doesnt change the fact that again and again they fail to deliver on their promises while charging people.
Others wont even give them a courtesy of a complaint. They will cancel their accounts, leave the game, tell all their friends not to buy it and that spreads like a virus.

I don't see any bad decisions made by the devs regarding this delay. But I do see a lot of impatient players. (News flash: Your $12/mo. doesn't buy guaranteed delivery dates of patches, it just means you can play the game.)

Thankfully, If I get bored of FFXIV, I have plenty of RL stuff to and even other games to play while I'm waiting for 1.21.

If FFXIV is all you have in life, you're seriously doing it wrong.

Presidents day is not a day off holiday! Quick someone tell the Japanese!

I'm sure some people think that presidents day is a holiday. Just because you don't celebrate it, or still have to work doesn't mean its not a holiday. For instance I never get Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and countless other holiday's off. Does that mean there is no such thing as holidays? Just cause I work during them therefore never have time to celebrate them doesn't mean other people don't consider them a holiday. Or am I wrong and there's just no such thing as holidays?

You know, far be it from me to defend the XIV team at this point, but this is rather the normal pace, two and a half to three months between major patches since launch. 1.20 dropped on December 15th; I personally was not expecting anything until into March or so.

I'd like for 1.21 to drop soon, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't even on my radar of expectations till March.

A short delay will be ok with me. As long as 1.21 hits by the end of this month and 1.22 hits before the end of April the 2.0 road map will not be too far from schedule.

I'm very excited to see the patch notes; and I hope they come out very soon, even if the patch is delayed.

Honestly don't care about patch notes, it's all pretty much already already all in Yoshida's letters.

What I would like though, is the patch :(

But....we have already seen what happens if the devs rush. FFXIV 1.0 happens :(

I was hoping for a patch this week. But now, in all honesty, I am hoping for a delayed drop. The expectations for 1.21 are sky high right now. I'd rather wait a little while longer than be disappointed. Plus I plan on being drunk off my ass from March 1st - March 3d. Unce unce unce.

Seems to me like they're just finishing up the job system. The context in which they said this leads me to believe that to be the last piece of the puzzle. If anything they'll only need time for some QA and should they not run into any critical bugs we should, should get 1.21 by the 1st.

Well in Canada it was familly day and everyone got the day off. Some companies will give even non "Statutory" days off .

Let's not turn this in to a debate about the day they got off. I'm sure they deserved it, regardless of whether it's a proper holiday or not.

Seriously. The Community Reps have to deal with these forums every (week)day of their lives... If I were them, I would need as many holidays as I could get. @_@

Can you imagine what they feel like sometimes? When they came into work after the server merge was announced? :D

They deserve a day off. :p

Family Day. That sounds nice. I think the U.S. should learn from its neighbor and have a feel-good mid-winter holiday. :D

To be honest, it bothers me that we're so commercially focused, you can't even properly enjoy Thanksgiving with your family anymore without Black Friday creeping into Thursday night.

I don´t know you guys, but entering in the lodestone each morning, after work/university and hoping that this time the news of the patch could be there is exciting xD

I haven´t finished the old content and new is in the way, so exciting ^^

Why can't they just say it's delayed again so some people can stop checking the forums every day? What's so god damn hard about that? It's obviously not coming out tommorow, I'd be surprised if it came out next week.

It is likely that patch notes will be released tomorrow followed by the implmentation of the patch next Thursday, the First of March, but then again that's just my common sense butting in.

I am going to agree with you here. I can't see them letting the patch slide much longer then that.

Didn't they do this last time? Just release the patch not even a few days after announcing the rest of the notes?

theyve done it several times

due to the enormous size of content in this patch we regret to inform that 1.22 will go live before 1.21

Before the patch hits we will likely see at least:
1) a topics post about the job system,
2) videos of the two new raids, and
3) the patch notes themselves.

We'll also have a producer's letter updating us on when the patch is likely to hit.

Keep in mind that the recent JP post said Yoshida is focused on completing the job quests.

Which they started working on last year when it was decided we were getting them.



And they still have to go through QA when they are done. : )
