The twins. They serve rarely any purpose other than being our character's voice. Also they aren't exactly nice to look at visually.
Hydaelyn, she destroyed everything so the lesser forms of life can live over a superior race. Also we could have warned them since they knew that they had forgotten something important yet she said no meaning she wanted it to happen. Hermes belongs to this spot too.
Minfilia doesn't need any explanation.
Graha is okay but why is he with us other than for fanservice?
Alisaie. I hate her. I just want her to stfu forever. If SE forces me into her again in 6.1+, I'll start skipping the MSQ.
G'raha. He was great as the exarch but I genuinely stopped liking him after Endwalker.
Kan-E-Senna.
She is the most useless city leader and hasn't done shit to help us on our journey to save the world. She can't even lead her own damn city which is just pathetic. She had to ask Alphinaud how to set up a trade network in her own forest! I'm pretty sure the shops in her city already have that set up and she didn't even notice or bother to ask!? Her only damn job she has is to speak to the Elementals and get them to do thing once in a while and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. She fucks that up and we have to fix it for her. That's how incompetent she is.
SPOILERS FOR EW TANK QUESTS IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH!
The EW tank quests have just completely ruined any remaining faith in her that somehow wasn't already gone. She ignored perfect advice from her sister to only realize she was right, she didn't know how to make the Elementals happy and a damn Moogle had to tell her to plant some trees and clear corruption, and it was pretty much shown that she only got the position was because the person who should have been Elder Seedseer made a very dumb decision that they never would have made, but the story needed them to screw up bad just so Kan-E-Senna could be given the job of Elder Seedseer by default!
END OF SPOILERS!
I HATE HER SO MUCH!!!
The only thing she has EVER done for us on our journey is let us use her low quality secret forest table for meetings and it doesn't even have walls to keep prying eyes away!
I want the Exarch back. I don't know why coming back to the Source turned him into an annoying simp, but I hate what has happened to him for the sake of making him a Scion. That one moment in EW where you can almost see the Exarch in him.. more of that. He's a wise old soul, let him have some dignity.
I agree. I get that he is a fan of the WoL but I think they went too much on the opposite direction of his personality as a serious exarch into a kid like state haha. I mean he still have all his memories as the exarch that hardened him so even if he can finally let himself go a bit because he no longer has the weight of an entire world on his shoulder, he should still be showing a bit more maturity and hardened characteristic. He is still a decent character for me though.
One NPC I can truly say I hate with a passion is the shadow of Gosetsu. There's nothing but a shadow where he used to be. If I want anyone back, it has to be Gosetsu.
Boric.

This is the worst of all hrothgars, and one of the worst NPCs by far. He's from the studium quests. He's awful and spineless, not only he has zero self confidence he betrays those that are closest to him. I hated him more during that awful questline than I ever hated ANY of this game's villains. He's irredeemable.
I'm not on good terms with a couple of NPCs. Erik from the MNK quest line, and the researcher hanging out in Sorrel Haven in the Central Shroud to name a couple. But there hasn't been an NPC myself, and my character have truly despised more than Asahi. My character has been able to find redeeming qualities in everyone. Even freakin Zenos. But not this a-hole. There isn't a smidge, and even coming out of the womb he likely made his birthing mother favor death's cold embrace instead. He even beat out Ilberd.
I was sad when Tsukuyomi robbed me of the one character in the game my character actually and truly wanted to kill.
You probably should have not said the spoiler parts. Why do you hate a character because they're a villain? If you create a story and find emotional connection then that means the character was well designed. I think the thread is implying characters that were badly written unless I'm mistaken. I did find the studium quests to be mostly lame myself because they all felt like the story was about the same just with different characters.
Honestly? This is gonna be a weird one but...
THE SHROUD'S ELEMENTALS.
Finicky as all hells. Disloyal, since they were ready to abandon Gridania after one (1!) powerful Blasphemy popped up and scared 'em, despite the many, many years of devotion afforded to them. They seemed to be absolutely insane too, like "will kill you and your whole family if you pick the wrong plant" kind of insane in the past.
I'm not exaggerating, look.
And don't forget people lived in Gelmorra in fear of them in the first place!Quote:
The forest itself is known to take the lives of anyone who does not heed the Elementals, a danger often referred to as the "woodwrath".
I don't know how Gridanians are cool with possibly being uprooted by these things, imagine one day government changes and they say let's industrialize. What then?
Also, I know they've been weakened by Dalamud's fall and all but here's hoping they've chilled out... or that some insane Garlean madman drops a nuclear strike on them (lol) and finishes the job. They're the worst elementals too, the Eureka ones are so nice.
Hot take....
She started to finally grown on my this expansion, but I really hated Y'Shtola up to this point. She's still my least favorite of the scions. Also Rowena. It's hard to like someone who literally owns people, and changes their name "Spirited Away" style to indicate that she owns them.
There are other characters I hate, but I didn't think that it would have been right to mention characters you were supposed to dislike (like Teledji Adeledji)
Forlmort, Laurentius, and Asahi. Those are the characters that spring to mind.
Every female roegadyn
I can't think of too many characters I dislike outright. Maybe the racist Elezen from the Archer questline, who we're supposed to like despite him being a total asshole.
Not a fan of how some characters (Gaius, Yotsuyu, Emet-Selch, etc.) inspire all of this "They did nothing wrong" parroting in the fanbase, though.
Marcette?
Cid.
I hate him & wish we could kill him off.
Anytime there is dialogue with him I skip it or completely ignore it.
From the way he talks, the way he looks, his dumb looking hair (it's a karen hairstyle) & wears a random oven-mitt.
His neck is incredibly large compared to his head & he has no wrists, it's literally forearm & hand.
Cid looks like the palm of a fat persons hand with clothes & white tissue paper.
The only good thing about him is He has a full beard (but whoever decided he needed a beard had never really seen a beard before so his beard doesn't even look like proper beard hair) Why is Cid the only man to ever be able to grow a full beard in XIV??
He just looks so poorly designed & the white hair & overly pasty skin makes him look like a creep.
I'd celebrate if he was just killed off or replaced.
I agree. The Warriors of Darkness were not great in Heavensward, and I really hated how Renda-Rae couldn't have two words come out of her mouth without talking about how much she enjoyed shooting Alisaie or how she was looking forward to shooting Alisaie again.
They got better later, or at least Ardbert did, but man that soured me on them as characters initially. Especially when Final Fantasy III had Warriors of Darkness that were good guys from the outset and help your characters fight the final boss.
That would be her. She refers to us as a number, and sometimes not even that. She can't remember if we're a test subject and whatnot. Her tone never changes throughout the course of the game, not even once. Anywho, I remember when I was really green playing this game, I died doing a quest she gave me. Then she is involved in a SCH quest much later in the game, and me thinking "I'm more experienced now, haha!" still found some way to die during that quest as well. Me dying in the outside world is really, really rare. Even way back then. She is seriously bad juju. She has evil yellow eyes too. I think she's a werewolf.
You know, I never really thought about them that way until the recent tank role quests, which is what I think you're referring to. And yup, the elementals and their fearless leader have no qualm with unleashing their wrath upon simple creatures that can put up very little of a fight against the forces of nature, but shove a Blasphemy or a Dark Rider up their butt and they sing a whole different tune.
"The Great One", eh? Reminds me of a bully.
Yep, remember that one ARR quest with the Ala Mhigan refugees who were being refused help because the Elementals would have gotten pissy? They're basically forces of nature that have no allegiance or care for anyone around them and only tolerate others so long as they get their way. I can't really blame Gridania for worshiping them out of fear though given the lore surrounding their antics in the lore. They were genuinely terrifying before Dalamud dropped the nerf bat on their heads.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
There are quite a few other things I didn't mention like how being disintegrated was considered one of the "better" things that could happen to you if you angered the elementals and actually suffered their greenwrath. They'd transform people into monstrosities and such. Or how to even travel through, you'd have to pay them tribute in some form and gain their favor. Odin and the like though? Oh, no, no. The woods will (literally) open a straight path for them. Probably because those beings could actually fight back.
Justified contempt towards the elementals and their bizzare thought patterns it may be, it is tempered though with the revelation in EW wherethat they were shown to be, surprise surprise, just yet another wayward creation by the Ancients (an Ancient researcher with a bunch of them nearby acting docile can be found in Elpis, with no explanation).
Given many of the creations of the Ancients were ending up exhibiting abhorrent or unforseen behaviour not expected by their creators (requiring the existence of Elpis in the first place), it's entirelly possible the completely alien mindset the elementals have is simply because they are broken, and no one alive even knows it - it's possible that the idea was to help regulate the aetherial levels in the environment, but for whatever reason they acted like a broken AI and after the Sundering took "regulate the environment" to the extreme.
EDIT: and a sidequest in Elpis all but confirms that - the quest reveals that the elementals were originally designed as experimental familiars that communicate not with words but by "information-laden aether" (to quote the quest NPC), which explains the elementals' completely alien mindset as well as the virtual impossibilty of directly communicating with them unless you can 'talk' through the aether. During the quest one such experimental elemental was shown to be stuck in an apparent feedback loop due to encountering a situation it wasn't 'programmed' for and was motionless, further playing on the "broken AI" idea.
So, if you have a beef with Gridania over the elementals and the city's restrictive policies regarding doing anything that might annoy them, blame the Ancients I guess?
Rather sad really.
No one is hate worthy imo
Any of the Loporrits.
Every moogle from the Churning Mists.
G'raha Tia, the teacher's pet of the game since ShB.
Post ShB Y'shtola who became completely flanderized.
Julyan Mandeville. I love the Hildibrand questlines but every time she was on screen she dragged the humor down to the mud with her repetitive shthick that got old after the first two times they did the "omg lmao she's so op and scary aha ha" like a Bleach filler.
Every pixie that isn't Feo Ul. We didn't need yet another rehash of the "cute race that wastes your time with pranks" and their chapter in the msq made me dislike their existence forever.
Magnai. The most tryhard edgelord in XIV who gets his ass handed to him by us constantly and still acts like he's tough shit. And we're basically forced to take his cringe edginess seriously because of the MSQ.
Meteion. She made me stop taking Endwalker's plot seriously. And I hate that the MSQ tries to make me feel sorry for her at the end. And by proxy Hermes too for his sheer hipocrisy.
I would add Zenos to this list... But he redeemed himself by becoming a source of memes almost the level of Ilberd thanks to Endwalker. And I like a man who generates amusing memes.
Zeno's can't stand bored babies
Any old lalafell monetarist
this thread is just full of bad taste and bad takes, isn't it.
anyway ilberd sucks.
My least favorite NPC has to be the "YOU pull, you tank" NPC. While not technically an NPC, they could certainly be one. Pulling one trash pack a at a time in high end dungeons, their over-inflated sense of ego. I can understand lower level dungeons, but by the time you reach SHB, or EW, you should know how to pull one trash pack at a time and how to use DCD'S.
Worst NPC by far, no other NPC comes close.
Valens Van Varro.
From the Sorrow of Werlyt quests.
This wretch rocketed to the top of my hated list so quickly that he eclipsed everyone else-- I actually find it a little alarming that this thread is over 30 pages and nobody has yet to mention him.
