OKOK, people, I will compromise with you, WE can have any mount you want, if, we can get rid of all instanced areas. Make this game completely open world.

It's a fun mount, and a fun gimmick, nothing more. This whole thing now reminds me of the Tosh's stand up where his friend was watching Superman Retruns and says "yeah, right" when Superman gets shot in the eye. His super speed, flying, all other stuff plausible but that just wasnt.

I didn't read all the pages, so I'm not sure if people have suggested this, but what if we're getting one mount per city-state, possibly from Grand Companies? Gobbue in Limsa, drake in Ul'dah and wolf in Gridania. Just a thought.

Btw, i would see the "famous" Shepherd class perfect to tame and use these mounts. But i doubt they'll put that class in 1.20b..

This is bound to happen. I guess I can understand why people might be annoyed, but I'm of the opinion that they should distinguish each company from each other, and giving people different mounts would be a pretty mild, non-game breaking way of doing that. So I say go for it!

Yep, even though the original plan was to release classes in patches (kind of like what they did with Summoner in XI) it would have been nice.

There has always been some form of comical relief in a Final Fantasy, rather if it seems far-fetched or not, why does this one in particular bother you?

Also, I wouldn't say that it doesn't fit into the game. As a world of fiction, the developers could add The Incredible Hulk as a mount if they want to.

i dont mind having a gobbue mount, but i would prefer having instead chocobos with different colors like XI, i am looking forward to get the magitek armor FFVI mount too.

Don't know about Colors, but 1.21 is going to bring Armors, if the concept art shown in the dev interview is any indication, there are going to be at least 3 types. (and they were all on gridanian chocobo, so i assume each company would have option of 3, whether its the same or different 3, or if all 3 are available to each company remains to be seen.)

Colors would probably be held off until we can actually breed them since it's a highly requested feature.

As long as my chocobro is faster than the gobbue, I'm cool with this. I like the sitting style on the gobbue mount. Can't wait to it whilst rocking monk AF.

Why can't we just have chocobos...why do we have to do what other mmo's are doing...why change a formula that didn't need changing?

Why remain static simply for tradition's sake? Every Final Fantasy changed things up. There is no reason that XIV can't add to the series other than the shear stubbornness of those afraid of change.

Careful, you might get accused of being afraid of change just because you're playing an MMORPG titled Final Fantasy XIV, since when you decide to play World of Warcraft we all know you're expecting a first person shooter taking place in the center of earth with time travel and Metroids.

How about...they focus on making Final Fantasy XIV more of a Final Fantasy before going the generic route of MMORPGs and offering nothing new because people want the same crap they got from every other MMO to be in here instead of SE trying something different?

I'm all for change, but they can easily enhance the chocobo system instead of going the route of generic mounts # 1 - 220 just because other MMOs does it.

You, like others seem to have misunderstood exactly what she meant. We already knew there would be a pet class introduced (Shepard) at one point in time, when that is we don't know, but her post was basically saying it would have been better if the ability to tame and mount monsters were possible due the pet class, rather than just anyone having the ability to mount monsters out of the blue. yet somehow people took that as her saying this game shouldn't have mounts at all.

It's unlikely there will be a quest or anything that goes into detail because this is clearly added as fan service since they said there will be special mounts for those who stick around through the rebuilding process to XIV's 2.0 relaunch.

Every time they add crap like this, it saddens me. Really what is wrong with some of you? This mount looks horrible, it is tacky, and is does not fit at all. In every Final Fantasy you rode Chocobos!... not horses, not Ostridges...... not Gobus..... but Chocobos....

This has nothing to do with nostalgia, or "sticking to the old ways" it has all to do with artistic integrity, and all I am seeing right now is Yoshi selling his out......

I love the general direction the game is going in, but this kind of crap is uncalled for.....

you want diversity? add different colors, add in the breeding system, not throw in 50 pointless horrible looking mounts.

Not my cup of tea, but frankly it DOES look cool...i'll personally stick to my chocobo ((unless i get a drake mount >.> )) but if people want it, go get it.
