Although we might one day see the Hempem sets unlock i doubt they would do the same for starter gear to keep some exclusive to each race ^^"

I'd absolutely love to see fewer race/gender restrictions! Plus, the hempen sets for other races look great! Every time I fantasia to something other than Miqo'te, my Lara Croft glam gets ruined.
Yes please! Unlock them all! My Elezen can finally wear something other than sleeves. I especially want to put that midlander boy tank top on my other non-midlander characters pls.
I personally do NOT want to see the stuff unlocked. Will probably get lynched for not agreeing on all of you here, but I'd like the races to have a bit of uniqueness. The racial stuff kind of holds a bit of culture of the races and to see it unlocked really brings a sour taste to my mouth. The few bits that set the races apart will be unlocked most likely due to overwhelming agreements to it. But... I'm really not seeing it. Personally, I want the bits to stay to the races. Just to give them a bit of them own flair. If I want a character wearing Au ra stuff, I'll play an Au Ra. Simple as that. I cannot imagine my Miqo'te to wear anything else but Miqo'te stuff.
But my voice is one that will get lost in the sea of overwhelming yeses, and that kind of makes me sad.
I don't understand how anyone thinks the current RSE holds any culture specific to one race. What specifically about miqo'te culture says "lacy boyshorts" to you? Even the starter gear just looks like different takes on the same "adventurer gear" rather than something about that race. I think the only reason people associate the different sets with a race is because they are already locked to that race. If they had never been locked in the first place I strongly doubt anyone would think they should have been race specific.
If we were talking about FFXI I could understand. The mithra all come from a jungle island and their RSE is a loincloth. Galka are slaves and their RSE is a harness. But FFXIV has more diverse races that are split into clans and the existing RSE is just generic looking stuff that doesn't seem based on any of that lore.
Unlock for all races please! I feel having the option open to all brings in more interest than restricting them. Worst case scenario when it first happens we might see lots in the miquote top, but it probably wouldn't be a long term thing.
I support unlocking the Hempen sets.
Also joined forum just to say please please unlock it. I love my au ra, but would love it much more if i could wear the hempen cami from other races
For something simple like the cami and stuff, it should be allowed for other races too~
That would be great if the Hempen set styles are unlocked.
You are not alone in your feelings on this matter, but we are grossly out numbered.

Just imagining Lala's running around in the more revealing sets turns my stomach, if i wanted to see that i would go play Tera.
BEHOLD! Your darkest nightmares made manifest!
This may sound a bit aggressive...but as far as I'm concerned wanting "uniqueness" is and inherently is ridiculously selfish. It's wanting to police what other people can look like, and frankly that's nobody's business but their own. Literally nobody wins from restricting cosmetics except for the few people who want to irrationally stand out among a crowd of strangers.
If this was a very racially segregated setting, then sure I could buy it. Outfits that are given to growing X race as a coming of age ceremony would make sense, but that is not the world of Eorzea. It's fairly recent development, but the humanoids have for the most part all come together. In fact with the exception of Au Ra and Duskwights, race is barely an attribute. You're not a lalafel or a hyur, you're a Gridanian or an Ala Migan.
What you and many, many others against this fail to realize is that the Hempen Sets are universal sets that have set appearance for each race. They are not separate sets and they never have been. The request is to make all of the sets separate as it makes no sense for a generic set that is already equippable by all races to have VASTLY different appearances despite being the exact same item. That is the problem at hand, one that you are very clearly ignoring or simply not giving the time of day.
I won't lynch you for being against it, you have that right, but referring to it as a racial or cultural item is wholly and completely uneducated when this item set is in fact not locked to any given race as is, only the appearances are.
Furthermore, race means little in Eorzea, in fact the characters that /do/ refer to others by race are often pictured as very rude and offensive— an NPC called my character an "Auri bitch" for example while the others made new reference to my character's race at all in the exact same questline. This is not how Eorzea works, more oft than not, characters are referred to by their nationality or city state rather than their race. This is how Eorzea works and will hopefully always work. Clothes are NOT a determining factor, nor will they ever be.
See what basketofseals above me said for a better idea of what I mean.
To that extent: Few here are championing the idea of removing the restrictions on the iconic starter sets; nor should we but there are a few who are foolishly asking for such, however a glamour set as trivial and somehow as oddly diversified as hempen underwear shouldn't be treated as "cultural uniqueness." It's blasted underwear for the love of god! That would be like saying because I am white I am now restricted to wearing one type of underwear and am limited to what I can or can't wear because of my skin color. That's the kind of argument you are putting forth and do you realize how silly that is?
There is a huge difference between a cultural set like the sets that HAVE the race names in them, and the Hempen Sets which are more or less treated as light fanservice.
This has been a frustration for me since starting the game. The female highlander set looks absurdly different than all the others. Why am I stuck with bondage lingerie when every other race gets at least some kind of decent casual outfit?
The Horror....
but anyway:
completely on board with unlocking these sets. The FemRoe hempen set is atrocious and as much as I try, I cant seem to figure out a way to make it not look weird on my character. I understand there are some limitations on things but it would be super nice to have cute options.
There is a difference between terror and disgust, you know that right?
... I guess comprehension issues are getting more severe... Im out voted i get that. Simply by looking at the responses to this subject it's easy to believe it may see implementation, I only voice my opinion of it and stand by the comments i made previously.
It should stay race and gender specific, in my opinion it helps in a small way give at lest a little race diversity. Lastly, in regards to the issue i have with Lalafell, I simply dislike the idea of anything so child like to be dressed provocatively. However it is just my opinion, remember that i know of, I have no say in what SE decides to do with their IP.
First off the Hempen set is not RSE it is glamour gear, end of subject, this game is as much about glamour as it is about adventuring, trials, raids, chocobos, naked moon dances with unicorns, ect ect ect. It's a theme park, anything goes as long as it does not generate lasting psychological damage. I never understood the thought process behind making 2 pieces of level 1 flotsam change form depending on the race wearing it, to do so is asinine, thankfully SE is in the position to rectify that particular point of hatred with me. I'll make the following statement, hempen gear is not RSE, it is glam gear, I am all for making every form of the hempen set available for all races, Why is there even a discussion? Also you people think Lala's being sexy and knowing it is bad how about 30 male characters only wearing subligaria and doing dances in the rain in Idylshire? Disgusting, truly an abomination but it's their game too.
Please consider making variations of these styles for all races. Thank you!
I juat wanna see a Roe in lala jammies.

I fully support unlocking it for all races
Yes, A million times yes!
I always find it frustrating as an Femra that I don't have access to something similar to the Miqote/Midlander versions which I find myself always being like "well...this would totally complete my glamour shame I have a nightgown instead..."
Yes, please do this, IMO this game has too many restrictions on glamour and honestly i'd like to see a lot of the class/job/race gear made un-exclusive too, but this is a totally a good step that should be taken!
I believe that reveals more about your state of mind than anything else.
Lalafel are closer to being chibi characters if you want an analog for them. But they are simply diminutive player character in a game, their race is shorter than others, but they are no less adult because of the shorter stature. Lalafell are not children. If you are contending that they are children because of their stature, then you might want to close your eyes every time you see any person of short stature (Little Person) lest you have a moment like you just did there.
Unbelievable how some people can see anything and everything in a very weird manner.
I would like this, sure. Why not? More options is better.
As to the differences providing some racial style, the vast majority of players probably don't even know that. It's not as though the item says it's for a particular race (as the starter sets do). It's a common piece of gear wearable by anyone of a given gender, and I expect most of the people who try it on and see how it looks on them assume that's just the look of the gear. It takes trying out the same item on multiple different races before you even find out that it looks different according to the race you are at the time.
Now, in order to provide versions with each of the different looks, they'd need to be different items, so go ahead and give credit to the race that designed it in the items' names. If, for example, "Hempen Undershirt" became "Hempen Undershirt in a Miqo'te style" and "Hempen Undershirt in an Elezen style" and "Hempen Undershirt in an Auri style" and so on, people would actually find out that there are racial styles involved.
We might well gain as much (if not more) cultural identity from the sets by just acknowledging their stylistic origins as we lose by allowing anyone to wear whichever they want to.
Is there anyone who can manage to Photoshop the hempen sets to different races somehow, like the OP in the hair thread did? It's a really great way to see how such a thing would truly work.
that's an excuse
this is not ok: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6n-Pjx0ATs completely pedophilic
How long does it usually take for more feedback on a popular post like this?
