yep cant connect. probably will be a 72 hour type deal.
Well I checked with work it is another DYN, and DNS attack. Like the one that shut down Netflix, and Twitter a couple days ago. It is not effecting all ISP atm.
Using my ethernet, I was not able to even connect to data center. Then, I switched to my wifi network & was able to connect to data center but not get past character select. I downloaded WTFast, and am now logged in & playing (:
It seems odd that they are saying the issue is with certain ISPs. I was able to login to the European Data and Japan Centers, even create a new character without any issue. Only get the error when trying to login to the NA Data Centers.
to make 29 pages short. lets hope they sort it out. i would imagine SE can also reroute their servers to a working path till the issue wherever it is is solved. they seem to be on it. so its a matter of patience
It is because the problem is (most likely) along the route between your home and SEs servers there, if it is, as is suggested earlier, a level3 problem, it's like
(Your Computer) - (Your Home Network) - (Your ISP) - (lots of connecting ISPs between here and there) - oXo Level3 Problems oXo - (Probably More ISPs) - (SEs ISP) - (SEs NA Datacenter).
The different datacenters are in different physical locations, so when you log into the EU data centre and JP datacentre your data takes different routes. They probably refer to backbones and stops along the way as ISPs as well.
SEs abilty to route traffic on short notice is probably pretty limited outside of their own infrastructure.
I can get to the character selection screen on Aether now, but it isn't letting me into the game... After that I get "10105 Connection with the server was lost."
Definitely can't be an ISP issue. I can log in on Behemoth (where I'm a massive noob and thus dont wanna log in) but not on Cactuar where my main is. Also, I'm not exactly onto it when it comes to tech stuff, but if it was an ISP issue, I can't see how only certain data centres would be affected.
ISPs in a wide definiton is a lot more than the local company connecting your home to the internet, it's a lot of different points along the route. The different data centres are in different physical locations, so there are different connection points along the way and your data traffic take wildly different routes (and have different ending points). It's like a traffic jam in San Francisco being highly unlikely to affect your drive along the English countryside. Assuming you're not heading through San Francisco.
(Using a VPN solution like WTFast that others have tried and managed to get in through would in this particular instance being comparable to taking a tunnel to a slightly different location first, then approaching your destination from there, circumventing the traffic jam)
Well, want an even better point against 'ISP'?
As I said before (and it's still reproducible here), on the SAME server (Cactuar)...
-I can not connect with my main, even after a couple dozen tries. It jumps between error numbers.
-I always connect with an alt.
-I connect after a couple of tries on another alt.
Can confirm that all existing characters give the error, but making a new character will get you in, and you can even reconnect on this new character after logging back off.
Also confirmed downloading free trial of WTFAST worked instantly to resolve. Have Frontier (Verizon sold to them last year) in Florida USA.
Had severe routing issues all of 2014, and had to use WTFAST to resolve then as well...
I cannot get in either. Error 2002.
I just tried making an alt and it failed miserably....
TY for the info. TIL more about how internet works :p
edit- not quite getting why an alt on the same server seems to work for some folks though? surely they dont send a specific character one way or another?
2 of my friends were able to get in through ps4... i am still yet to be able to get on after waiting a bit :/
I got hit with this lastnight. When I woke up, I was able to log in just fine. So i thought it was fixed. My MISTAKE cause when i changed to a alt, I realized I couldnt swtich between characters without saying the connection to the data server was lost. Then pretty soon it wouldn't even load the data server and started throwing me the Lobby server error.
I disabled my internet on my PC and re-enabled it again hoping it would fetch a new IP address after doing that I was able to log into my main again. Not saying its going to fix the issue. but it might allow you to go on the toon your wanting to play.
Like I said in another thread, SE will blame the ISPs and the ISPs will blame SE...it'll take days to fix because they won't work with each other.
Sigh .. still getting 2002 trying to log onto the giant turtle.
Looks like they finally acknowledged it.

Adamantoise with -comcast high speed here
Been unable to log in since 9:41pm EST yesterday.
I play on Aether data center and live in EU. Can't get in, neither with my normal ISP nor via mobile hotspot.
So it's definitely not an ISP issue.
My reply was specifically towards different DataCenters in completely different physical locations. The Routing is completely different, which is why many can connect to EU and JP DCs without an issue.
The simple way I can describe your situation: having one person able to connect and others on the same connection not, is pure luck. You are all going through the same Main and Satellite offices along the same route, but these locations are full of racks of hardware with their own internal handling and connections. If that location isn't up 100% some of the affected hardware will block connections and/or not properly handle them, yet others can get through. Again, luck of the draw.
Also each piece of hardware only has a certain amount of connections it can handle, if its full, its full. If there is an internal handling issue it will timeout your connection.
That is the most simple way I can describe it to you.
I can log in with one character, but not another on the same world. That doesn't sound like an ISP issue to me. O_o
Wow... really?! I went to bed, wake up and the issue still isn't resolved.
My game initially crashed when I attempted to make a new char on the same server as my main, same error codes too.
I tried creating and connecting with the alt a second time and successfully connected. I'm actually running around doing early Main Scenario stuff... but I am loaded into a city and I can see some other players as well...
Getting 2002 all the times i have tried. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Same thing is happening to me. I can log in with one of my characters, but not with the other 8 on the server.
I still can't get In
Thought it was fixed late at night / early morning now its back
I figured this going to be something like this... now its testing my patience
Will keep a watch on for bit longer till I'm moving on for good
From Midgardsormr here, unable to log in at all ( got kicked yesterday night, couldnt get back in ), having a bunch of 90002 or 10105, and now, the data center cant even be reached when trying to log in
My question is how will SE make it up to people unable to play? Especially if they are paying for the service.
