This makes no bloody sense.

Person X wearing it and making it black is their own fashion choice. It has literally 0 effect on the Base set of armor. It changes nothing about it's uniqueness when it's in a Neutral state. I do not understand, in what state of mind, you have to think that making armor have more variety in color is taking away from the uniqueness of the sets.

I don't see how it becomes generic by dying it black. Or how it's very, 'Otherworldly,' at the moment either. It looks like the sort of thing I could see a Gridanian Hearer or Conjurer wearing. It's the perfect shade of green for blending into the Twelveswood too. Pity that White Mages can't use it. But Black Mages can. Is it so wrong that I'd -prefer- to be able to make it black? Heck, I think it'd look great White as well. Or Red. Or Blue. I'd like to see all that. But, it will forever be green, unless SE decides to change it.

Once again referencing people being unique, not the equipment being unique. There are plenty of other commonplace robes to dye black if you want a black robe. There are plenty of unique pieces that are black by default if you want a black robe. The fact that the Valerian Wizard's Robe is green and will stay green no matter what is part of what makes it unique. Some people want to wear it, some people don't want to wear it. But it will stay its default colors. That's how it should be.

I think we may be losing track of what I meant with my example. The robe being green doesn't make me refuse to wear it. Heck, when I buy the upgraded armor from tomes from Idyllshire, I'll probably glamour them to look like the Valerian Wizard's Robe, as I do like it's look, it's style, which does not exist elsewhere in the game, or have anything similar to it. In that regard, it is unique. Being able to change the color doesn't detract from that uniqueness. It simply gives more options to express myself and my character.

Yes. It. Does. If you could dye the Valerian Wizard's Robe, then it would be reduced to nothing more special than other generic robes, being forced to blend in with other pieces of equipment instead of standing out.

How? Dying it doesn't make it suddenly look like Acolytes or Battlemage. It still looks exactly as it does, just with a different color.

Thinking in terms of the people wearing the gear, not the gear itself. 1000 people wearing the Valerian's Wizard Robe would make the people generic. The fact that there is no piece of gear with the same model coupled with the fact that it cannot be dyed makes the Valerian Wizard's Robe a unique chestpiece.

You're a charmer. Nothing but Hate? I'm not sure what it is that you think I've done to garner that kind of reaction, but it's your problem, not mine.

You're not talking about the uniqueness of the gear, you're talking about how recognizable and special it is. For example, the original Paladin AF gear. Were there not a dyeable version of it, then everyone wearing it would have the same gear. In that sense it becomes more common place, and therefore less unique. However all the different colored versions of it are less recognizable as the Paladin AF gear, and so it's ability to stand out as that gear is diminished. I think I understand what you're saying about making the RSE dyeable, but I don't think the uniqueness of the gear is diminished by changing it's color.

On the other hand, I think you could argue that making such gear dyeable diminishes it's stature because it becomes less recognizable as that specific set of gear. I don't necessarily agree with that point of view however, but I think there's definitely a discussion to be had there.

However from a purely logical point of view, the RSE gear should be dyeable since it's simply regular clothing, not gear made from super rare, magical, perhaps mythical material which it would logically speaking, be very difficult to recolor without altering some other property of the material.

But then I've always had a problem taking my relic and uber-rare gear to the local hammer pounding thugs for repair. I mean if you had a Katana made by Fujiwara Kanenaga in the 17th century, would you take it to Lowes to get it's blade sharpened?

By comparison the RSE is basic gear that can be made by any low level weaver and leatherworker. So, what's wrong with it being possible to dye it?

I hate having options and will police people on what they wear!
