You're the only one that brought this up - Not I. No one is complaining about how they spend their money, they're complaining about the "free" reward they get because they want something better.

This is only the first year reward and some people asking too much. What is going to be for the 2, 3 or 4 year reward? Oh X item such i have sub for X year is time you SE give me a free max level new class because i'm loyal. LOL at people whining for a free stuff they give.

No one is complaining about free things. We are simply curious as to why there is a sudden change in the quality of the reward. My points are.

1. One year of service and subscription is a milestone to many for the relaunch.
2. All previous rewards have been tangible (mounts, minions, vanity).

The thing that makes this reward even worse for many is that the security token provides one free teleport location that can be reassigned. If that was the one year reward, people would be jumping for joy and praising Yoshi P. Alas, the reward we are getting will disappear in a matter of time or never see the light of day at all.

If i gave you a stuffed animal every week for three months ,and then all of a sudden decided to gave you a dead goldfish in a bowl, you might question what my motive was. You'll gladly accept the goldfish and place it on a shelf so i don't feel bad, but then as soon as I leave you flush it down the toilet while the stuffed animals sit proudly on your bed.

Gotta agree, the 365 day reward is incredibly underwhelming. Assuming you're paying 500g for every single teleport (which almost never happens, most I've paid is maybe 350-400, usually around 200), then these tickets are saving you... 25k. That's what, a week's worth of daily quests or dungeons?

And I agree with RuleSigea above, the real issue isn't that the "free" veteran rewards aren't good enough for us, it's more that they set a precedent of having lots of neat rewards like minipets and mounts, and then whip out something significantly less exciting for the one year milestone. Hell, they could have simply reused an old prize, the fantasia, and many people would be totally happy with it. If you're going to do a customer loyalty thing like this, you may as well be consistent.

Welcome to the new precedent all your "They set precedence" folks. Now it's all gonna be crap forever so they don't have to listen to this type of complaining in the future. "We tried giving them nice things once before..." This is why we can't have nice things.

My problem isn't directly with Aetheryte tickets, it's with their choice of timing. Add these as a "refer a friend" bonus (for the friend) or a bonus for the CE. Give us a "Veteran's Crown" or something--the idea of these is to show off. Aetheryte tickets sound great as a "bonus" for buying the game. They're the kind of booster that you give new players to help them catch up; not the kind of thing you give to 1yr+ veterans. They're neither useful to us, nor are they a "Look, I've been playing forever" token.

Someone who has been subbed for a year doesn't need these, unless they've been inactive while still paying. There's really no room for argument. If you actively played FFXIV for the last year, you did not do so and survive with 0 gil. There's just no way. Personally, I am in that "unless" category--I've probably played a total of two months--and I have no problems with gil. Even though I started 2.0 with 40k, and had three 50s from 1.0 to gear up, I'm fine.

In other games, these may have been exciting as a kickstart when creating new characters, but as FFXIV largely relies on a single main character, there is no need for fully-leveled alts.

I want all my free things to be the best thing in the world. When I subscribed to this service, I did so under the impression that I would get more than I subscribed for. If anything, the 730 day reward better be the game going completely free to play. Thank you.

Most people in this thread aren't asking for "more valuable" rewards in terms of gil value or bonuses, but just a "LOOK AT ME I'VE PAID FOR A YEAR" item.

As for point #2 we are also getting an Odin minion so that point is moot.

As for the other part if you give me free stuff why should i complain? I can do w/e I want with it(trash it save it or w/e) Is like whinning b/c i didn't get the latest phone on my birthday, is a gift.

Personally I would just like items that you got to keep rather than items that are consumed on use.

This is the only thing that bothers me with this reward, but I am thankful we get rewarded just the timing for the tickets is slightly off :3

Would you consider an Odin minion and 50 teleport tickets 'very special'? so special that yoshi P himself couldn't talk about it in the last live letter.

He hyped it up and if he never mentioned anything people wouldn't feel deflated.

I really hope in the next live letter (tomorrow if i remember correctly) Yoshida will say "surprise! we were joking with you. The very special reward is X". If not, i'll feel a bit disappointed. I don't care about veteran rewards, but i'm getting a bit tired of being lied so many times...

The veteran reward are just there, it doesn't and it won't affect me in any way what they are unless is something that affect gameplay. For me there are just some free stuff that I don't expect to get or need it.

It doesn't matter to YOU, but some of us look forward to things like a Behemoth mount or Warrior of Light barding. They have set a standard and that is what we were expecting. We don't want anything amazing or game breaking, we just want what we have been getting all along. Some of us care about showing our commitment to the game, in game. With the complacency some people have in this thread...SE is better off not wasting time and resources on Veteran rewards, and should just give us all 1k gil and 1k GC seals every 90 days.

So your point is? "Very Special" is a word that express one person opinion and we know by fact that everyone may have different opinion for the same subject. I look at this like he is giving this for been gratefull about all the support and everyone else is just spitting him back because is not what you wanted or expected.

If you really care about showing your commitment to the game you don't need any of the rewards. Show it with your attitude toward the community, help people around, show off your gear and accomplishment, there are many of way to show your commitment.

I don't need any rewards, and I do show my commitment...I join as healer to random Titan HMs if the person is shouting nicely enough, I answer questions on how to obtain or unlock something, if someone is dieing I will heal them, if someone is dead I will raise them ; however, none of that has anything to do with this specific reward.

The people paying 6 months at a time are more than likely the ones who are actually going to play that length of time and continue to play. So in this case Payed = Played

Yeah, well, when I get my perk for still having the FFXIV (1.0) Beta installed on a computer, let me know. TL;DR, these rewards aren't for being a veteran, but for keeping a continuous subscription; that's definitely not going to change.

I think this is how most of us feel. It is irritating people keep going back and forth on one extreme or another. Tangible things (mounts, minions, bardings, etc.) are much better received veteran's rewards. I wouldn't even care if it were x2 different pets, or what have you. The tickets are perishable and not something that can be shown as *my one year subscription*, and is a much better 2 month reward or something for beginners.

Maybe they have something good planned for the year anniversary and cant say anymore until it comes along, therefore making the tickets valuable again, could be good marketing

It's ironic that most of your post is defending the Vet Rewards to prove you are committed to the game.... and then you end with this sentence.

The game sucks as it is. I want it to get better, so I am still subscribed. I only play about 2 hours a month though, and I would hardly call it playing. They can have my money to make the game better because I WANT this game to succeed, and I'm committed to helping make that happen as much as I can bear. What I don't want is SE to waste time and resources making useless crap like this.
