If any one thinks relic is now easy to get, you're in for a surprise.
Yes, relic has been made *slightly* easier to start off.
However, along the way there are gear checks, and skill checks, both of which will prevent you from completing it.
1: Clear the entire storyline
2: Clear class & job quests up to level 50
3: Get the quest from gerolt to get weapon
4: Get a weapon and double meld it
------END EASY MODE--------
From here on end, you have gear checks and skill checks in place:
5: Alumina salts from Chimera in cutters cry
6: Literature from Amdapor (Very short instance with about 3 bosses...good luck)
7: Kill 24 mobs (this is the easiest step in the entire chain) with item equipped
8: Kill Hydra in Halitali 8 man (skill and gear check)
9: Kill Hard Mode Ifrit, Garuda and Titan for an item from them each (things have changed since 1.0...)
10: Buy a 900 philosophy token item from Rowena. You get these from end game raids.
After all that you have 1 relic. For skilled players, this makes getting relics very easy. For the not so skilled players...good luck.

Actually, I did. The grind for FFXI does not compare. Not even close.[/QUOTE]
Back in the day it would take around 180mil-300mil gil to buy the currency to obtain the relics in FF11, not even the most expensive item in the game(kraken club) would give you a third of the gil for then(plus it had a drop chance of like 0.4%?). You could grind for 2-3 years straight(like some Japaneses did) or buy the gil, that would be 4000$ back in the day, or become a antagonist and create a greedy dynamis shell, tricking people to keep all the currency all for yourself. You probably play the game after abbysea was released, but relics where famous back in the day among MMO players too, it was hardcore and extremely grinding quest, and required the help of 24+ people to complete the quest in 90% of the task's ahead, it was a whole linkshell hard work for 4-6 months worth, to reward a single individual with a "epic" weapon.
