Remove Vanity pets

Vanity pets are cool, and personally I like them, but I could also see the OP point as well. Let's say some one is really into the lore of things and is on warrior wearing some beastly gear, feeling all bad-arse, and than come across a FATE event with some huge monsters, so they run in feeling like an epic hero with nothing to stop them, than 5-6 people who are also participating in the FATE event happen to have little chocobo or fuzzy animal vanity pets, I could see how that would take away the serious scary battle mood from some people seeing cute little animals around the battle area.

I like the idea of vanity pets personally, but I do hope the option to disable them (as in I wont see them when other people have them out) is there, as I too sometimes like to get into the lore of scary terrain and monster mood, and little cute pets would ruin that scary mood for me.

Edit: I could not imagine myself feeling the tension and fear factor I did in 1.0 when doing ifrit extreme with cute vanity pets on the battle field.

I suppose you could make them use up a party slot so that 8-man raids don't look like a 7 year old's pinata birthday party

My wife about squealed herself into oblivion when she saw the choco chick with his eggshell for a diaper, so she is definitely on board :D

For all the haters...you people really can't get over the fact that Yoshida and his team are implementing systems/items from other MMOs (OMG WOW STUFF THE GAME IS RUINED I WONT PLAY IT; I'M NOT A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE ANYMORE WAAAHHHH!!!).

I don't want people playing the game and causing bad press or constant bitching. All that will do is cause people to NOT want to play because all they will see are whiners and elitists who want to relive the "glory days" and none of this "new stuff" because this "isn't what a FF MMO is supposed to be like". That's how a lot of MMO players outside of the FF genre see us. Elitist pricks who think they're too good for anything else. Because of that, they don't want to play FF MMO's. It's getting rather tiring, and I'm getting tired of being stereotyped in that manner.

All these people hating on these new changes would rather walk uphill both ways in the snow to get the job done even if they had a snow plow and a car with snow tires and heating to make it easier. What they want is to live in the stone age since that's apparently the only way.

Things change. You adapt or you quit. I think these changes are for the better. This is a game after all. No one is forcing you to play it. I just want to play it free from haters who will do nothing but tear it down for being "too mainstream".

At least jumping provides some gameplay advantages. The ability to jump over a fence or up a ledge instead of having to run across half the zone to get around it for example... exaggeration I know, but that's one example of it's usefulness at least.

Besides it's more realistic that what we had before. Not having jump seems pretty backward to me.

lol You people need to chillax. The OP expressed his opinion about vanity pets and everyone was quick to want to crap on him for it. Also, you guys parrot each other a lot. "Deal with it." Although, don't get me wrong, I don't want pets gone either. I want my baby chocobo and behemoth too badly. Also, the thought of a baby Bahamut as a pet gives me happy dreams at night.
