problem with cash shops is small things will turn into bigger things when they see how much money there making off vanity items, then god like weapons will pop up in the store, then you start getting timed items that last a week then you need to buy again, you wanna pvp need to buy a arena ticket, oh you want red mage gotta buy it. they will nickel and dime you.
better with no cash shop.
Nope, i prefer an implicit force upon subscription. Just like how F2P games sucked our money with low probability gachas, but instead of it, we force free players to subscribe moar A_A
Need to work about that, tho ('~`; )
Actually, Cash shop is the main problem why RMT is common in F2P games. Why? Because people who don't have real-life money will invest their time in accumulating gold to buy cash shops. Also, several retards who cant grasp the concept of trading will likely sell cash shop items using their real life money for a freaking gil in a cyber world, thus, promotes the cycle that we knows as RMT.
I wouldn't want to see a cash shop in FFXIV. I have seen more and more subscription based games plugging in an item shop for cosmetics and other items, but the biggest issue I have with the process isn't tied to the fact that the game would be receiving more money. The issue is that the cosmetic items, that are usually offered in-game to some extent are cheapened when players can just buy that same item for $5, $10, or $15. This type of process diminishes the importance of the item in my eyes.
For example, when I first saw players riding around on their Goobbue I thought to myself, "Hey! That looks cool. I'll ask/learn how I go about getting that." If the answer was simply pay $10, even if I could also do a quest in-game to get it, I wouldn't be as impressed and would probably not get it.
I say we keep any cosmetic/pets/mounts/etc. as in-game items for events or achievements for various actions.
I still don't see what the negative review on it is >.> Its just it boosts revenue and it does not give people Pay to Win items then its fine... a cash shop that is purely cosmetic is not evil... seriously I don't see why people are against it o.O its not like all the items on it would be the coolest looking items in game... read up on how TSW implemented their cash shop it turned out pretty well... Its just something to boost a little revenue on the side... unless your the ones who think S-E shouldn't get a dime and that all the developers can starve...
I SUPPORT WELL FED GAME DEVELOPERS -sticks tongue out-
If anything, giving the devs and SE more ways to earn revenue through the game gives them more incentive to really support the game as much as possible. Offering a free-2-play alongside a subscription model also allows them to potentially gain even more of an audience.
Someone else mentioned the idea of F2P players having to pay real money on "boutiques" while subscription players can pay with gil? That sounds like a potentially decent solution.
I'm not saying SE doesn't deserve the well earned money, it's a great company. But I as a player would stray away from Cash Shops cause it's just not what I want to have involved in a Final Fantasy game. I'd rather donate more money to SE or have an option to give them more money so they can give us more items in-game than to buy outside of the game.
I've been a paying customer since release, and nothing would make me quit faster than a cash shop in FFXIV.
