Live Letter LXXXVI 86 Discussion Thread

It's not about being a 1-game Andy. I bought this expansion almost a year ago. As a non-raider, is it too much to ask to have something to do a year after launch? This is still a subscription game right? They want people to stay subscribed and doing things?
I can keep grinding Monster Hunter or play Yakuza Pirates again, loved those games. Doesn't make this release schedule look any less stupid.

I don't trust the current writers to do it well, even though Hiroi wrote Shadow of Mhach.

I'm starting to believe they dont have resources to offer people things to do nor the creativity to come up with something like that, like a proper MMO with a SUBSCRIPTION should.
The white knights usually guide you to content and grinds from years ago as a defense. Or when in doubt, they start harrassing you for not doing savage or ultimates. When even the savage and ultimate players are bored and lack stuff to do.

And, because I'm not a 1-game Andy, I'm grateful that the content's staggered. Day 1 for Normal raids, then back to other games until Cosmic Exploration, no-life that for a bit, back to another game, then return so I can no-life Occult Crescent.

Good for you.

I would argue here most other people are not 1-game andies either, and even if they are, many people also have very consuming lives.. But both categories of players would still pine for content that can keep them occupied for more than just a couple hours once a week.

7.2 sounds like the typical. Maybe some interesting lore of the past content in the exploration zone unless they muck it up.
But the patch content itself sounds like a bunch of pseudo-philosophical jargon about death again, while the absolutely unbelievable population of Solution 9 continue to exist, they are toddlers pretending to be adults while we are supposed to suspend our disbelief and swallow this writing whole again. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. The fights look cool I guess!

I just meant the potential War of the Magi stuff in the Shades Triangle story. I've considered the MSQ a lost cause since the tail end of 6.X.

In concept, the MSQ for 7.2 and the story of the Shades Triangle seem *interesting* even if they keep hammering the topic of Life and Death.
Personally, I am a sucker for the concept of writing about Cycle of Life, everlasting empires being unnatural and how death needs to sometimes be brought forward to keep the natural order of things.

But we will see how it will be handled in writing. It keeps me a bit skeptical, given how they really try to make 'grey characters' to build empathy when the scenario itself really does not need *any* degree of empathy. These attempts often harm the story more than anything due to being done poorly, imo.

Same. 100% uptime fights are boring, I hated that about Endwalker. It's fun to have to consider where you can sneak in more uptime as melee.

I wasn't sure if you had to be a level 100 crafter/gatherer to be able to do Cosmic Exploration. I'm glad to see you can do it from level 10. It'll be a good way to level my DoHs to cap, something I haven't really been bothered with since launch.
