7.0 Summoner abandoned job or not

I personally can't wait for the live letter tomorrow showing off a bunch of new primals and the community to go wild about how great summoner is going to be, conveniently ignoring that the primals shown are going to be little more than reskins of what we have now. How long do you think it'll take before anyone realizes it's just more of the same once DT launches, a month? Two?

a week or two of copium, white knighting, gaslighting... Basically in a perpetual state of denial about how horrible the latest rework of SMN.

You're not alone in thinking that. Several people have pointed out that they lately intentionally design jobs to have 'room to grow'; the difference is just whether or not they trust them to deliver on that or not at this point.

As others have pointed out, other jobs that have received this treatment with the devs' word have not panned out this way.

Given how empty SMN feels, there's no doubt in my mind they built all of it and only included half so they wouldn't have to think about it for another decade.

I think this is designing too much around job balance and 'room to grow' to stoke excitement in jobs, and not enough around unique mechanics that make them feel distinct to play. The resulting effect on me is that I have more jobs than ever in EW and yet it feels like there's fewer than in ARR.

What's more, I'm stuck with a half finished job for at least 2 years (should I keep paying for it) and not for the full design. They're saving it to drip feed into the 10 road map of job action trailers that are obligated to focus more on style than substance.

I pick jobs by /random ing, and I only swap for party role diversity bonus or if someone else is on the same one so we get more LB or whatever. I wish they would just shake things up, because they'll actually fix balance issues among jobs, just not 'are they interesting to play or not' issues.

The problem with jobs with room to grow is that they do not in fact, grow.

so tomorrow's the big day... I'm expecting upgrades to RuinIV and Fester but what I'm hoping for is having something for low level play cause you end up with a LOT of ruins at lower levels, it's almost as bad as healer glare spam...

If anything at high level it's the amount of ruins per cycle that's worrying. You cast one and you're done, the rest is packed with primal action spamm (gemshine etc) and one ruin IV. I do question why the ruin filler is even there. Any downtime or a player having lower skill and casting less will not even have the time to actually cast it. Same thing with the AoE version.

there wasn't even Shiva/Leviathan/Ramuh. I'm sorry EW SMN mains, but this is the biggest L I've ever seen.
