Can we get an idea on what to expect from the open world in version 2? (A bit long)

I hope this post reaches out to the Devs, cause im dieing to know whats gonna be open world.

As for Rokien, I usually dont post on the forums, although i read through alot of the posts. I can see why people think you come off as a troll, but even so, Im with ya on most of these thing, cause no matter how much people want to defend all this instance stuff, I think we are all in the same thought as ya man.

We need more open world, hopefully this wont become another stand in Org and win everything. I dont want FFXI v2.0 , but i do want that exploration and mystery that FFXI had. For those who played FFXI, remember teleporting to all the crags? remember finally seeing what was inside it? remember opening an entire new area after completing the crags? All of these things could have taken up to a year to realise depending on how you played and explored that game. I want that

Tell that to Mee Deggi the Punisher. I was well over 0/30 on that bastard before I stopped being cheap and just bought the damn kotes. <-<

The droprates were a bit higher for the HNMs but still most of the good drops were still in the 5~8% range.

When given the option between a 2.5% chance of a primal weapon with the downtime of 10 minutes between kills vs a 4.8% chance at an item like the defending ring in xi with a 24 hour spawn time between kills. I'd take the 10 minute downtime.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see open world content once the game engine can handle it. I just think that xi vets let their nostalgia sugar coat the game into something a lot more fun than what it actually was. The droprates were just as horrible in xi as they are in xiv with the difference being that in xiv you can do the content back to back to back to back.

It displeases me, Miliant, that you so much misunderstood my OP that you felt the need to react to it aggressively. Allow me to clarify, bit by bit, so that, perhaps, you come to realize at the end that we might very well be on the same side of the issue:

Wrong, I never used the strong adjective you attribute to my thoughts. Plus, my overall criticism of Caravans refers to it insofar as it is an open world event. I just don't think the open world should be repetitive and predictable. That kind of event is great for instances. Besides this, I think the game needs scaling, a lot of instanced events for people that like their events easy to do, fast, and yielding useful rewards without much effort; and then the open world full of menace, hurdles and excitement for the many people--not just me--that want that sort of thing. What I referred to as "kind of sad" in my OP was the fact that the game places casuals in the need of spamming events in order to secure GC seals. But if that's something you prefer, i'll withdraw the qualification.

Also incorrect! If you are instancing them, and you're making them just one flavor in the array, the sort of events you like wouldn't bother me in the least, as it won't be affecting the open world. Wait, even more, I'm sure you'll find me running such instances from time to time.

You're mistaken, Miliant. I don't think you must like this because I do. You seem to be among the ones that think that your type of one-size-fits-all game must be homogeneous because your type of proclivities are better than mine. I have never stated such an idea. I have advocated for diversity and variety in content from the beginning of these forums. I don't agree with the WoW haters nor the FFXI haters. I just think that there should be plenty of content for you and for me. Right now the game is just slanted towards your likes. I am not asking for the abolition of scaled content, nor of instances. I happen to think, like many others do, that the open world should be as I described it in my OP, but I never requested the elimination of instancing. For, you see, instancing is perfect for the type of content you want. I actually want you, and all the casual gamers in the game. I also want me and my friends to find a home that feels like the spiritual successor of the world of Vana'diel, which we loved. I just want a game with diverse avenues for diverse tastes. Right now this is not the case. But, as I have perceived them, the views of Yoshida seem to fit both your interests and mine. I wrote the OP just because not enough has been said in announcements about the type of events people that agree with me want.

I hope this helps you, and others, understand where I, and others, are coming from.

That's artifical difficulty, not ACTUAL difficulty. There was a reason why people 'unmotivated'. The spawn conditions on these monsters were completely unreasonable by any important standard, and defending said system by saying "Oh it's the Casual's fault" is infuriating. - a system that says you have to be at the ready 24-7 for a video game and be willing to spend 12+ hours at on sitting and/or rotate shifts. That is wrong on a humanitarian level - not a question of 'if you're dedicated enough.' You flatly should not have to be dedicated to that point because it is detrimental to real life.

Anything shorter than 3 spawns a day even if it's a minboss placeholder, is horrific standards to have in an MMO, and is what creates these horrible behaviors such as monopolization attempts, harassment and cheating. The HNM scene was nothing less than a hostile, overdrawn, and just generally unfriendly player enviroment. That's why players were unmotivated about it - not because they were simply lazy or 'not good enough', as you're trying to imply.

I can't stress this more, while there can be difficult challenges, the FFXI HNM concept was flawed and toxic to its very roots game wise. And it's my personal opinion that the concept needs to be re-thought from the ground up.

And I am full of the ideas on that topic. Ideas aimed at increasing both fair play, accessibility, and reward yield, while retaining a lot of the tension and difficulty of epic HNM fights. But some of the mechanics I have in mind might not go over well with people, most notedly of them would be a Free-Company Wide Cooldown on claiming a HNM imposed by having to have a specific item used to claim the monster to begin with, that you can only buy so often. This would be offset by the fact that these HNMs would spawn at least three times a day (an 8 hour repop timer would be about the max I feel would be reasonable) with the exception of course of Primals, who would be off the claim list if they're under the control of a Free Company - who would feel the cooldown once their primal is used or their allotted time to use it expires.

That would flat out guarentee that other Companies got their shot, and the cooldown timer (I was thinking 48 hours.) Would still be shorter than those who were waiting 3-5 days for Tiamat to spawn in FFXI. But this way, instead of 'being on call' they can actually focus their time on other aspects of the game (or other aspects of their real life). Or, if they're really into it, go find another HNM to claim.

There's other ideas I've got in mind that are less restrictive and more insentivizing for various play, and a feeling of unity for a Company as a whole. But the above one is defiantly going to rub some players the wrong way.

In the end, the game shouldn't be just 'casual friendly' but even for hardcore, it should still be humanitarian. As I stated before, there should be no desire for foul play in the HNM scene, and that should be reinforced by the mechanics.

Funny I only ever camped HNM's that were in my window of play time. Guess I had enough patience to wait for the spawn windows to clear up for my playtime.

It wasn't a perfect system but it kept some rare items rare, and gave them value in the economy. You can't have items "Worth" something if everyone can just go grab it and get a gold star for breathing.

I would love to bring back who has the better bot program. Sounds like fun to me! GO TEAM OPEN WORLD!!
