Sorry, I just came in "from the cold". I'm sure it won't bother enough people to call for a nerf, probably. :^)

SE just needs to grow a spine. That being said keeping this MMO this easy can’t be that good of a decision in the long run. The amount of people I’ve lost to this expansion is the biggest I’ve experienced, and they weren’t the transitory kind. They were people that were with the game since 1.0 - HW.
And they didn’t leave because endwalker was the conclusion of the story, they left because the game got boring. For those that stayed, myself included; we’re no longer recommending the game, while we’re hanging on to hope it will get better but I’m going to suggest we do other things together now instead of playing this because I can’t in good conscience get someone into it in its current state. It’s not fun.
Maybe the game will keep soaring to new heights, I feel like it is going to shrink instead. Everything in excess is bad, and I think we’re finding the threshold where unless there’s an unlimited number of new players the game will start to fade because it’s been played out.
It was players voice of mouth and recommendations to friends that got this game to where it is. It wasn’t marketing. Unfortunately I don’t feel like telling others hey do you want to play this game where you will spend 500 hours feeling bored playing it? Its got a good story though…
Sorry sweety but its not Endwalker that killed it. Its FFXIV itself that has for years been as mid as it can be with its gameplay and systems that it finally caught up to a lot of veterans and players realizing that FFXIV was never amazingly good. It was just mid.
It was truly a huge mistake to have gaslighted many people coming from other MMOs thinking that FFXIV was superior in almost all forms and in this case, the community got what it deserves.
Mm SHB started it, but EW was the breaking point, so yeah, I would say Endwalker is killing it. It wasn’t always mid.
Stormblood was the game at its funnest, and that’s why when SHB launched everyone was like hey we’ve got to play this. And while well received the signs the game was homogenizing too much were already there. That was still tolerable though. But Endwalker was a bit too much.
Are we still talking about "normal content," like as you mentioned in the OP? If a player mainly focusing on the barest minimum of content gets bored and leaves, that means they weren't very invested to begin with. It's up to the player to pursue more engaging content. Not to say the baseline content can't use some refreshes, though, but other options are and always have been there.
They haven’t always been there, but I’m very much against the premise that “if you want engaging content, go play ultimate” there’s a hundred pages long thread on that topic though.
But I feel like this is blaming the victim here, the game is supposed to be fun, given that it’s SEs product to sell, the player shouldn’t have to try hard to have fun. A good game is just fun to play. And I don’t think we’re at that point anymore.
But to everyone that thinks things have always been this way, they just haven’t. The game has changed a lot, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. We’re in one of the bad timelines at the moment.
