Refer to one of my previous posts where I stated "The market will always determine the price." High demand (a results of 2 jobs requiring this materia) and low % of obtaining this materia from spiritbonding creates this situation. This situation (as well as price, a result of said supply and demand) is a result of bad design choices overall.

Consider that as of right now, there are 2-3x more of any other relic materia in the markets, at a max of .5 the cost of Heavens' Eye IV (on Hyperion)

I have a lot gil but i refuse to buy it at this price that i rather SB myself. Think who decide the price.

With the same rareness, Heaven Eye T4 selling 50k before relics, 2M after relics. RARE is not good reason.

Please tell how long you spent spirit bonding, how many pieces of gear you converted, and how many Heavens' Eye IV you got.

I think you're missing the point. The current price for Heavens' Eye is a result of supply and demand (you are correct when you say people are willing to pay this price). There is so little supply (due to the low % chance of conversion), and so much demand (2 jobs needs Heavens' Eye for relic). All of this is due to the decision of the Devs to 1). Make BRD and PLD share the same double meld and 2). use a materia that has an inherently low conversion rate.

You're right - if people flat out refused to buy the materia then prices would go down. But this is not a realistic solution.

IF SE do change it in future but ppl still buy it @ 2M, Solved? Serious?

Solution : make a NPC sell it @ 1Gil, solved.

I think this is a realistic 'solution' in the sense that: If so many people are so willing to pay this price, then this is what it really is worth. The price did not suddenly jump up to 2M because it is part of being a relic. It jumped up to 2M because people were completely willing to pay 2M to get it.

The real source of the 'issue' is that you have a lot of people WILLING and ABLE to pay 2M for this item. And given how easy it is to make Gil here, not that big of a surprise.

That doesn't mean SE shouldn't do something the at least even the field a little.

WHMs and MNKs get off easy. Manathirst and Mind materia are so common that you can buy dozens of their materia for the price of a single one that Paladin and Bard share.

If they split them and both still cost two million then oh well. But the price is exaserbated by the fact that two classes need it in addition to it having a desirable stat.

You are touching on the validity of the argument. The cost of the item in the wards is irrelevant, and discussions on that is distracting from the true root cause of the problem. The REAL issue is:
Item X is based on Materia Y.
Item A is based on Materia B.

The probability of creating materia Y is not equal to the probability of creating Materia B. SE should have choosen dependency on Materia across all relic weapons that had equivalent probability of being created.

(Whether or not this STILL lead to a price inflation of Y versus B is irrelevant. For example, Strength and Mind are similiar in probability but Strength costs more (as it is more coveted). That aspect is irrrelevant. Only the probability of creating it is relevant).

To everybody who is responding with the conjecture: "The price is so high because people are willing to buy Heavens' Eye at this price" - please read the following carefully.

You are right, the price is so high because the market has deemed it so.

Get it? You're right. I agree with you. You are absolutely correct!

Now, read the following carefully as well.

Supply and Demand determine price. Supply for Heavens' Eye is low because of the % conversion rate. Demand is high because BRD and PLD require the materia. These two factors: SUPPLY and DEMAND - determine price. Demand and Supply set the price of goods. Get it? One more time - Supply and Demand are the driving market factors. Now continue...

SE chose for Heaven's Eye to be the materia needed for both BRD and PLD, which pushes demand upward while keeping supply low. This is a bad design choice, and is unbalanced and unfair.

I am not arguing that the price is justified given the current market conditions. I am arguing that this choice was folly on SE's part.
