You're delusional if you think SQEX can't detect ACT

Well, I have seen 1st hand how much of a difference ACT can make back in 3.x when I was a raider. 2 people always posted to FFXIV logs it took seeing the numbers of our worse member to explain how they were playing brd wrong.
He went from last to splitting 2-3 DPS, I mean the tanks were out DPSing him.

I don't mind seeing my number to know I can improve but I take pride in jobs. My Hubby could care less. So I don't Raid and don't care as much.

Reading memory and logs by a 3rd party program isn't detectable unless you're looking for it.
SE isn't looking for it and knows it is out there and other companies have taken action. They are giving the community the benefit of the doubt, But when you harass someone, they step in.

I wish there were a way to know how well I'm doing overall, vs just attacking a dummy or doing the raid dummies.
Even if the numbers where local or just me or when you using a dummy it could be like you did XXX DPS over a 2 mins window. So you could see if you could beat your own amount.

ACT requires admin permissions to run, which is a huge red flag.

It also does not read data from combat log, it requires network permissions to sniff network packets to read data. And the data it cannot read, it just makes it up with an approximation (dot tick damage)

Your telling me that SQEX is able to use a Web-browser to easily confirm these things exist? That sounds pretty far fetched to me...I mean its not like part of this games charm is likely how much people are able to tinker stuff. Its not possible that SQEX turns a blind eye so that they can avoid having to address the issue of Timmy's first trip to Balmung..

I mean...its not like thousands of players are entering random hashes of garbage into their lodestone profiles or anything...pretty sure SQEX devs have no idea what that might be.
All seriousness however given "how" ACT interacts with the packets would make it pretty easily detectable I imagine especially given my understanding is that ACT needs to be started before the client which suggests to me that its hooking into processes on launch.

And this is why they had to remove enrage timers from the game. There are no longer any enrage in normal content. It's exclusive to Savage/Extreme/Ultimate now.

Lol the only reason I'm allowed to use this shit is because SE knows better. They know that people who do Ults and Savages need to gauge their DPS, especially when you design a raid fight with a DPS check in it.

I doubt SE can detect something like ACT. The same way you can't detect wireshark on a network if you just passively listening. The same way police can't detect if you are using a radar detector. They only find out if you show them... the same way SE only would know a player is using mods by talking about ACT or showing a picture taken of players in-game with mods changing their appearance.

I am not saying people should use mods. Just stating the obvious, which is antithesis to the premise of the OP's thread title.

1. There are hundreds of legitimate programs and applications that need administrator permissions to run. UAC is horrible and was a tool first seen in Windows Vista. So what's your point?

Of course they can, but they choose not to do it because privacy issues and Japan laws. Also that will start a war between modders and the programmers of those 3rd apps and SQUARE-ENIX. SE will block the third party software, and the 3rd party tools devs will find a way to go around that, so Square Enix will block that new method, so the 3rd party devs will find a way around again, and repeat till one of them gets tired.

There are other games in JP, which scan your computer for cheat/bot software and nothing happens. For me, it is a bad excuse. ;) I guess, ACT is such a little problem for them, that it is not worth the effort to introduce a scan software for it.
