6.08 Patch Notes

I do have an idea about the Tomahawk buff. In standard tanking content, you're just using it for pulling or to take back some random mob you neglected that's torn off after a ranged character. For any sort of fights where mobs are dying willy-nilly(mostly I'm thinking PotD/HoH/FATE exp farming here), a lot of the time Tomahawk might be the only thing you can do to mobs before they croak due to distances between them.

disagree on that one. both are equally important, just for different demographics. I couldn't care less how unbalanced a job is in a dungeon, they're easy to do no matter what you do, while higher end content usually makes you utilize the job more (not to its full potential mind you, but you need to properly use more of its kit, so it demands better balancing than a dungeon)

of course, people who only do casual-ish content won't care about what I just said either. it's a matter of perspective

i wait to see the how this change will affect the global dps of the sam, but i don't have a lot of hope... namikiri wasn't needing a buff honestly.... he did say that they had been stingy with the dps of the samurai... but i feel they are still stingy... if this change increase the dps of the sam of 3-4% we will be lucky and honestly it will not be enough for justify to bring a sam in place of a reaper or a monk in the group. i feel they did forget the period where monk, that had no party buff, was not taken in group because other jobs was impacting more the group with them buff and them dps...
but i hope i'm wrong....

something fun to note... sam is said to be the one that must be the egoist dps and means to have the best dps.... strangely from all melee he have the weakest combo of all.

But I also don't think that RPR deserves to be where it's at, it also gets a lot of stigma because a lot of the edgelord LARP:ers that gave SAM stigma play it in droves too.

Being easy to pick up and having low skill expression is the direction SE is wanting to go. I would rather all classes be balanced than worrying about an easier job being lower because it's easier. I don't buy into things being bad in the past justifying then being too strong now. We should strive for balance. It's a very minor buff but it is insulting to buff the strongest job in the game on a balance patch. Arcane crest is weaker than mantra. Especially on stuff like final fight. If we want to get into utility then drg should be getting the most in that regard as it's utility is life surge which is a joke at best.

I thought yoshida said that just because he hasn't named the job getting buffed that it doesn't mean they won't. Surprise! he was off the mark once again. Every job he named getting buffs got buffs and no other job.

It really does go to show which jobs the devs hate the most and more evidence into the "proof of why the devs don't play their game" category. Whm mp and misery, drk sustain, mch etc all say hello

Also he didn't mention MCH but only DNC if I remember correctly.

"Why didn't things other than damage get changed on a patch we were explicitly told was only adjusting damage?"

For all your complaints of the devs not playing the game, you sure don't read their statements.

I have to assume the OP doesn't play the game at any level that actually matters - PLD was by far the lowest performing of the tanks in end game content and DRK the highest. GNB and WAR are both in good spots and didn't really need any adjustment. I'll be surprised if the PLD buff doesn't get walked back a bit next patch (as SE is wont to do).

all these buffs make easy content even easier.... and even more boring... great....
