I didn't think we'd get massively customisable options but I was hoping to be able to make a simple wooden chair and table or the like... You know, really basic stuff to just give us a tiny taste of what real housing will be like. Not even cushions or anything fancy, just simple metal and wood stuff that many small inns don't include in their cheapest rooms (the sort of rooms where you get a bed and a window and a power outlet, the rest you bring yourself or imagine or go to a community area to access). I'd really love it if Yoshi-P&Co would reconsider this, at least in a future patch...

I guess if it's not much customizable, why is it there? I know we didn't get the details yet, but there must be something. Like some people suggested, either it's the place to change jobs or a place for you to log out in order to get rested xp next time you log in (which also helps take Gil out of the economy)
-
I am more then happy to have to work for my customizable home however I do not want to have to keep paying for it in the form of rent or taxes to keep it; like in some MMOs.
Spending gil for fertilizer and bug spray on my garden is different ;p
So what is the Inn room supposed to be for? If it includes a 'safe' for more inventory space that's fine but I cannot really think what else it could be for given the multiple confirmations of what they can't do o.o;

Holding off features for the actual Player-owned homes gives us incentives to actually get a home. If you could do most stuff in a private room most players wouldn't bother with it but making homes something everyone eventually would want to get ahold of opens up furniture/home customization/etc as a viable market.

- Instruments (Piano, Which you can make play music. Horns)
- Water fountains for ambiance.
- Folding screens
- Desk Map, Wall Map
- Globe
- Fridge / Icebox
- Waste Basket
- Hourglass
I realize these are gathering classes. But I would like them to participate in some way.
9. Botanist: Gardening
- In house plants, gardening, bouquets, wreath, wall vines.
10. Miner: Decorative
- Gems, ores, geodes, statues, decorative rocks, columns.
11. Fisher
- King fisher display (mounted wall fish), fish nets on wall, coral, shells, stocking fish tanks.
Those are just a few ideas.
Player Housing Enhancements for Players
Perhaps these could be obtained from quests and give a % bonus.
- Whet Stones display to increase chance of HQ for Gems and Weapons. (Items like this for other crafting classes.)
- Lamps that glow with Materia to allow for a better chance at Forbidden Melding.
- Shoe stand that gives movement speed bonus.
- Book of adventures / journal that give achievement points bonus.
- Killer Effect with certain monster head displays which can cause monster intimidation.
- Workshop / Workbench which generally gives Craftsmanship +
- An item for perception.
Other Player Housing Ideas
- Cutscene viewer item.
- Fireplace is a must!
- Item interaction: Target item and it makes sound, glows, sparkles etc.
- In game music radio. Tune it to your favorite zone. (Mine would be Coerthas.)
- Item receiving system so players can send and receive items.
- Post box to send messages or combine this and the one above.
- Wash Room.
- Stained glass windows. Able to choose and change color scheme.
- Since we may or may not be getting an Auction House soon our Retainers can be our house servant.
- Player housing expansions allowing us to add on rooms and get achievements for it.
- Extra storage in furniture.
- World access to player housing. Access your house from main cities.
- Each city has different style housing. Allow us to choose the housing we want or perhaps we will be forced to choose the City / Company we are associated with.
- Choose house layout: Structure, construction materials and layout (Ie: Fireplace).
- Event / Set storage NPC or item.
- Achievements for furnishings.
- Do not let household items take up our personal inventory space. Perhaps special decorating space.
- Allow our mannequins to display unused armor.
- Recreation room, for games and fun.
- Linkshell council room for Linkshell / Company / Community housing.
- Do not have to be in party to invite others to your house. Able to send invitations.
Here are a few of the great things that we miss: Egg lamps, plants, sparkle trees, dividers, wall scrolls, maps, paintings, mannequins, mini airship, globe, anything that glows, furniture, PIANO, fire place, a quiet place to call our own, decorate how we want, and a bed. And the fact that you could interact with many of those items, or just enjoy their beauty.
Also now you have the opportunity to implement something very original, a chocobo stable in our own homes:
http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/...MyMogHouse.png
Imagine coming home and your chocobo greeting you as you spawn in your Player housing. Allowing you to click on him or her and interact. Kweh! Kweh! The link above is a photobucket picture >.> It is um well I drew it of the idea.
Company Housing / Linkshell Housing
If you do community housing with Companies can we at least get our own rooms and then a common room? That would be cool too and we can decorate our rooms and the common room and then Company stables as well!
You enter through the common room and click on a floating orb to transport you to your room.
Can send invites to other people to join you in your room.
Linkshell housing should also be purchased by the LS leader. This home ownership can be passed to another so that it does not go to waste if Leader leaves. If Linkshell disbands it will go to the purchaser but has limited access due to no LS being formed or no longer being LS leader.

homes for players and guild halls for companies. something appropriately ffxiv where you can both build it and enjoy it as a group. I don't need to be able to invite guests over, but I would like to have craft meets there. I really like that alchemist developing pictures idea as the eras start to move on. It sounds like everquest was doing some really cool things with housing. I'd like to see FFXIV really max out housing. I always wanted Wow to do housing and was disappointed when it never seemed to happen.
Also, I want a personal or company garden, where a botanist can plant seeds they harvest of mobs during combat. 7 players fighting + 1 botanist waiting for his opportunity to pluck a seed would make a good handicap for some boss fights.
If housing is done right it could fully resurrect this game for me.
