My Analysis of BLM's issues and why it is currently the worst DPS class.

trolly? lmao cmon guy. you can do better than that. Fact is, it's nice that people actually care about blm and want to see changes but arguing like babies and talking down to others who most likely care just as much about the class....now that's "trolly".

Remind me, when was the last time BLM was competitive in the Meta? Oh wait, it wasn't at all in Heavensward. The meta applies to more than just world firsts.

Furthermore, i'd like to for once play my favorite class without feeling like i'm intentionally hurting the group.

Something like 6% of a paladin, 9% of a dark knight, 10% bonus to Samurai. There is no real loss to applying Slash as it's on all built in combos that are part of the core rotation, unlike Monks who still theoretically lose out for applying Dragon Kick over Bootshine (Double Monks, it's like almost a 1-2% bonus if you can just bootshine while the other guy upkeeps the buff)

So if you take a good but not top tier of those three jobs, assuming no other slashing debuff for some odd reason, Samurai adds something like another 800ish to the raid. (4-500 for itself, 90 for Paladin, 150-180 Dark Knight)

BLM has been this weak since 3.3. For one and a half years, BLM has been one of the weakest jobs in the game. There was somewhat of an initiative after 4.1 though by fed up BLM players to complain until SE takes notice since they were saying absolutely nothing about the job after all this time, and people were pissed.

And now they finally did.

Talking it out helps in the right venues (but you're right, doing it in a civil manner is good.). Official forums and Reddit are places that SE has been known to read. People CAN make a difference.

Mh kinda expected as such (actually a bit less) frankly there's no reason why BLM shouldn't be able to contribute to the raid in some way. I mean atm SAM has more dps and can give some raid dps and since SE wants to make engaging 4 man content too that should be more relevant too

Usually, it changes because players expressed their complains. If everyone keep their mouth shut, playing the job they like and stop caring about numbers and such, there's no feedback for SE. Also, that's highly subjective: some people will find BLM totally fine, some people will not. From my point of view, BLM is fun and its rotation is fluid and simple, which feels good. But still, I press "K" and I see all those useless spells: Sleep, Scathe, Blizzard 1 (who uses that past lvl 40 ?), Blizzard 2, Freeze, which could all have a real utility no matter what level you are.

Since the start of Sb I've been feeling like I'm holding my group back rather than assist them, I want my class to matter for my group again.

The thing is, a lot of people don't realize the issues with BLM's rotation at end game which doesn't make it fluid - mana ticks/B4 skipping, thundercloud procs (not being able to use them in certain parts of your rotation and having them overwritten) and unreliable scripted OGCD usage without losing DPS. Clipping can be really awful, and B4 really lacks power.

They can easily be fixed, but it begs the question - does anyone at SE actually play the class to a high level? Because this was all stuff that was commented on when 4.0 dropped (and in some cases, even before that - with the B4 skipping only becoming realistic in 4.05).

i'm curious, but don't ninja is slash damage?

plus i want to point out something interesting, the real end game is only touched by something like 5-8% of the community, do they must tailored a jobs for this little part of the community and content? good blm is 3-4 in terms of dps... but if i'm right it fighting for the first place in terms of ranged dps, no?

i have always fail to understand why people try to compare different type of dps together, melee have other trouble that they need to deal with, like need to move between enemy, avoid all cleave and such, respect positional is not the same demand... the fact that melee outshine ranged is normal... i don't say that blm is not means to be a strong dps, i only say that melee need to be above ranged or else, we will see one more time the situation of the 2.1 where no melee dps was wanted only ranged was used because it was safer and better to have ranged dps that was dealing as much dps than melee without any of them trouble.

ranged dps have to deal with a different sort of positional... but it's part of the jobs, at least you don't loose 30% of damage and 15% of attack speed if you don't attack for more of 15 second...

all in all, yoshida have said that the blm will receive a bit of love, but if they make it first dps it will kill the whole purpose of the samurai... that bring nothing to the table and is only here for dps. at least blm with role skill can help on some stuff. not the sam. it's a story of balance...

i will repeat it, make ranged > or = melee in terms of dps is simply bad and will lead to a situation that will not be healthy.

ps: to the op how a jobs that is about the 3rd or 4th dps is the worst dps... seriously?
