2017/07/06 Hotfixes: Grade 6 Materia aplenty!

Everyone benefits from this. DPS-only players get shorter queues and cheaper materia, because this will stifle any inflation in that market for months even if it's a short term measure. Tanks get some extra personal profit. Anyone can switch to tank, so there's no downside.

P.S. Please don't stop the complaints about how it should be for everyone in the party because there's no tank shortage yet only tanks can get them because there's a tank shortage, they're making me chuckle.

This is an incorrect statement. On average my DF queue times have been back to heavensward times on average. I'm a firm believer now in that SE is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

As a tank, I can confirm this: Running an instance as tank is as easy as just dropping it into my inventory. But you know what? I ran an instance. And that's what this game needs right now: tanks running instances.

Anyone who wants a "free" cluster has exactly this option open to them. Anytime they want one, all they have to do is change to tank, and run an instance. Simple! And folks choose this path who normally would never touch tank? Then SE's plan has worked. It has gotten more people to tank, more tanks to run instances, and helped to ease the horrendous queues DPS are currently suffering.

No tank or healer should be complaining about this. They get free stuff.

No DPS should be complaining about this. Their queue times will most likely shorten due to the greater availability of tanks and healers - and even if they don't, Tier VI material will become much cheaper on the marketboards due to greater availability. It's a win either way.

Gil is always garbage. I have more than I know what to do with, have a fully customized house, all the materia and glamour I could ever want, and plenty of food. What use do I have for gil? Nothing, because it's worth two things: Jack and Squat.

Because those are all long term effects. Many people see this and just think of the short term of tanks getting materia faster than them

This won't fix anything long term. This change won't get people to switch mains to tank. It will simply make people temporarily switch to get the materia/gil they need now, and we'll be back to square one in a month or two.

It's a temporary band aid.

If prices for materia rise because supplies slow down, it will naturally incentivise more people to jump on their tanks for the roulette again for a while. I think it's quite a good solution to the problem (polishing up the jobs they damaged in the transition to SB would be a good followup plan, and RDM/SAM bandwagon jumping will naturally drop off as people get them all levelled up anyway).

Tank lifee

As a tank main, I find that this incentive will only benefit those who don't like doing hunts for materia VI and those who have money to spend on them. After seen this I just ran and sell 30+ materia VI before the price drops even more (which is my main source of incomes) and still won't be doing rouls unless I really need it because they are really tedious/time consuming. If I wanted materia VI I would go and do a 3 min to kill hunt and not a 30 min dungeon.
