Will Housing ever be addressed in any meaningful manner by the XIV team?

I just want a decisive attempt at a solution to the housing situation. I want very badly to own a house and it shouldn't be limited to whether or not I can find a plot that's rarer than the holy grail. If I have the gil I should be able to purchase a large house for my FC and I. I just can't believe a such a large company can't divine the technical means to accommodate more housing availability. I would even pay an additional fee on top of my sub to access a ward if the price was agreeable.

This! The housing situation in this game is so terrible. While I love the idea of neighbourhoods, the reality is that I will likely never be able to use it. I saved up more than enough for a large, but if I even want to buy a small, I have to risk being scammed by a random player just to have a plot available. All the housing is right now is a monopoly held by a few players.

I wouldn't hate having a small house just to chill in and dump all the housing stuff the MSQ throws at you. Maybe craft myself some nice furniture. And I was actually pretty happy to hear about Shirogane housing (even though I much would rather have gotten Ishgard). I have zero interest in living in Shirogane, so I was hoping plots would open up in some of the older wards (Limsa, Ul'dah, Gridania). Then I thought about it a little more and realized... No houses in current wards will disappear with the introduction of Shirogane. Since you can have more than 1 house, there's literally no downside to just buying a second house in Shirogane. Maybe if some FCs try to move to Shirogane I can jump on one but... what the shit. For real. 1 personal house per server, all current and future alternate characters on said server automatically made tenants. Stop-gap measure until something more meaningful can be done with housing. Reimbursement for people that currently own houses? List price +10%, all decorations turned into the housing reclaimer guy. Kinda sucks for people that own houses though, and it's not like I'm entitled to something they got before me sooooo... *shrug*

You can only own one house per character or per fc and people are wanting to move to the new zone, so there will be plots opening up in the old zones. The reason people can own so many on an account is the standard account can have up to 8 characters.

I think op mean per account per world but just summed it up as one per character. I would add maybe giving automatic access to alts as well so people who run alts on the same server (not sure how you guys do it but go you) can still enjoy the benefits of there house.

OP here, what I meant was 1 Personal/1 FC house (if you're leader) PER ACCOUNT. PERIOD. None of this "per world" stuff that would potentially allow a single account to have multiple houses spread throughout a data center. I'm ok with making alts automatic tenants of a singe house since that would be tied to a single account.

SE could just also make enough wards to meet the demand since they have shiny new servers that they paid for with Cash Shop money. But then again the zones can't hold more than 250 characters before crashing and locking people out and it appears we'll only ever get 720 net-new plots per 2Y+ Expansion Cycle.

Make more Wards SE!

Never was my intent to "punish" people, they are simply playing within the confines of what SE's crappy housing system allows and SE has not shown any interest in meaningfully addressing it. What we've been met with are excuses about "server limitations" that creates an artificial lack of housing and the black market that by not actively combating, they endorse by standing on the sidelines and do nothing.

I'm not one of people who want instanced housing as personally I like the neighborhood look of the wards. What I do want is simply more of them and dare I say, enough wards to fulfill the demand. Like the only reason I take the hard stance above is because SE by their silence will not give us more than 12 Wards for a 2+ year expansion cycle and the hard limit would at least make more plots available.
