What is with this game and half-naked women as bosses?

I'd like to take the time to mention, of all 3 Grand Company leaders, the one wearing a mini-skirt is not female.

The OP asks for more sexy males as bosses and yet a lot of posts talk about normal, mostly friendly NPCs. :rolleyes:

I agree with you OP, would be nice to have more diversity with both genders. More sexy/beautiful male bosses (sorry guys but I dont really find Hulk like males sexy :eek:) and more beastly women.

Its not like the other side cant exist, it would just be nice (as a woman myself) to not feel that sexualized all the time..at least do that equally to both sides. :cool:

Wow, lots of ponderous thoughts in this topic. I have 3 thoughts to offer.

1) Exactly where are these half naked women? I don't recollect topless female bosses and certainly none of them forgot to wear something on their bottom half. So, where are all these half naked females?
2) Many have mentioned fan service. I'll go one better the genre of fantasy art has always been pretty heavily influenced bu the curvy and expertly drawn female form, generally a lot curvier than those in FFXIV and with a lot less clothing.
3) It's a video game, an entertainment product. Such products always pay attention to their key demographic, and cater to it.

Next time I am at a beach or for that matter a public swimming pool, should I shield my eyes from the half naked girls and women there? Is it time for the puritans to return? time for females to be covered head to toe lest it corrupt a man's soul?

I agree, there is an over abundance of floating females as bosses, and of late the last three 24 man raids have had skimpy girls as the main villain. I'd like to see more original designs, preferably non-humanoid, this is a fantasy game and the only thing you can come up with is a girl in underwear?

I dare say if they wear nothing on top nor bottom, they're wholly naked, rather than half-naked. Or are you just taking it literal and cut it in the middle and look if one of the halves is completely devoid of clothes?

Awkward criterion either way.

I like to hypothesize that the idea behind these designs is to divert the attention of the "key demographic", aka horny males, towards the boss, rather than the mechanics and thus, create artificial difficulty. It's a devious plan and judging by the amount of wipes I had to witness on Calofisteri, a successful one, too.
